Everly opened her eyes to see an empty bed, she didn't think much of it. Jeremiah must have gone to get some breakfast or something.

Her eyes moved over to the clock on the nightstand. It was way past morning.

She threw on a pair of Jeremiah's sweatpants and one of his many t-shirts that were to big for her, before she left the bedroom.

She was about to make herself a coffee in
the kitchen when she noticed Jeremiah,
sitting in the other room, a whiskey glass in hand as he watched the television intensely.

"Jeremiah?" She said as she started to
walk towards the room. "Why the hell
are you drinking in the middle of
the day? Is everything ok?"

He only drank when he was severely
stressed. And, by the look on his face,
this was one of those times.

"It's all over the news, haven't you seen it? "Jerome strikes again". He's terrorizing Gotham yet again, but this time he wants
me to see it. He wants me there" Jeremiah babbled out quickly before he took a huge
sip of his alcohol. His eyes not daring
to move towards her.

She put her hand on his in an attempt to comfort him only to be rejected as he
pushed it away. She tried the hardest
she could to just ignore it.

"You're not thinking of going, are you? It's Jerome we're talking about. It's not like
he's going to throw some sunshine and
daisies kind of show for you—"

"Of course I'm not going, I'm not
stupid!" He said in a harsh tone,
adjusted his glasses as he shook his
head in some kind of disapproval.

Everly took the glass of alcohol out of his
hand. He were about to let out an annoyed
sigh about the fact that she probably would throw the beverage into the sink. Instead,
as he looked up at her, his eyes widened
in surprise. She had shrugged down
the whole glass in a matter of seconds.

"I never said you were" She then replied
with an eye roll before she sat down the
empty glass in front of him, turning around, before she walked back to the kitchen.

"Everly, wait—" Jeremiah yelled
after her as he got up on his feet.

"What do you want, Valeska? Anything
to drink? How about a glass of leave me alone?" She said sarcastically as she
continued to walk away from him.

"What is the matter with you?" He asked absolutely startled by her sudden outburst
as he took a hold on her wrist.

She gave him a bitter look before she slapped his arm away from her. "What's the matter with me? Oh, perhaps just the fact that I am
worried sick for you and this is the way you treat me for it, by yelling. It's bullshit!"

Jeremiah bit his bottom lip, a hint of regret in his eyes as he muttered out. "I'm sorry I just-"

"I couldn't give less of a damn about if
you're sorry. I just need you to sort your
shit out because I can't be the one sorting
yours for you every time. I've got my
own shit to worry about!" She yelled,
her eyes glistening as if tears were about
to fall down her eyes at any given moment.

That was the most angry Jeremiah
had ever seen her before, but it was
expected. Nobody could be so calm
for so long without eventually
reaching a breaking point.

"Nobody asked you to try to help me
nor save me whatsoever. It's just in your nature. You feel the need to help others
and in the process you forget yourself"
He told her truthfully as he started
walking closer to her, trying to calm
her down. Suddenly, her back hit
the kitchen table.

"You're an asshole" She muttered out
with a little bit of uncertainty. She knew nothing he said were untrue.

"What did you say? I didn't pay
much attention" Jeremiah responded
carelessly.

He was playing with her anger. Why? For whatever reason, this unexplored side of Everly turned him on. It was hot when she was mad.

"Fuck you" She then said as she pushed
him away from her, perhaps she had time
to walk away.

But, before she knew it her back was yet
again pressed to the kitchen table, Jeremiah
in front of her and nowhere to get away.

Catching her of guard, he took his hand up and put some of her hair behind her ear, silently staring into her eyes for a few seconds before he breathed out. "Oh, I'll fuck you alright"

She tilted her head to the side, letting
out a chuckle of disbelief. "Who said
I wanted you to?"

"You did, of course" He replied amusingly, putting his hands on her waist before he
lifted her onto the kitchen table.

Everly's anger seemed to vanish a bit.
She wanted to stay mad but it was almost impossible as she looked at the man in front
of her. Like she was hypnotized by him.
By his voice, his smell, his touch and at
last, the way he looked at her.

She wrapped her arms around his neck as
he was standing in between her feet. Their faces were only inches apart, she could feel
his hot breath tingle against her skin. Slowly, she leaned in, and, as if Jeremiah couldn't
wait any longer, he crashed his lips on hers.

After awhile, their lips parted ways and as Everly ran her fingers through his hair she breathed out. "You're still an asshole"

He laughed before he intertwined
their fingers. "An lucky asshole"
