As soon as the drive finished installing, your phone interupted you with a default ringtone and you saw an unknown number.

Picking it up, you heard Linda on the other end (if you dont remember, Linda is the owner of Bradley's Diner/Cafe that you applied for a job at, if you dont exactly remember its chapter 11 i think). Surprised that you got a call back, you were obviously nervous.

"Hey hun, so, it turns out that we can accept you!" Her motherly, southern tone rang through the phone. You smiled, thanking her. "So, when can you come in? We can talk about schedules and such then, hun."

You thought for a minute, looking over to the clock to see it was already 7:59 pm, "is tomorrow morning okay, ma'am?"

You heard flipping papers in the background.

"Yeah, that'd be perfect actually, we open at 6 but get pretty busy after 10 so somewhere between then would be nice." All the sounds of a diner were also heard in the background, such as smoothie machines and the door bell.

"Alrighty then!" As soon as you said then, she hung up with a goodbye. You added her to a contact in your phone.

You suddenly realized what you were gonna have to do. Talk to people...be social.

You managed to keep your breathing steady since nobody else was in the room. Jack must've went to get some tea (i know he drinks coffee but shHSh).

It's going to be okay, its just people, people like Sherry and Jack. People. With these thoughts you were able to calm down. Wow...I haven't done this is a while. I escaped another panic attack.

"Y/n! Come get your tea!" Sherry yelled from the kitchen.

You hopped up and grabbed your mug. You put two small spoons of sugar in and stirred. "Coffee is definitely better." You heard Jack comment. You glared at him jokingly. "This is just leaf water." He chuckled.

"Yeah, and coffee is just bean water." You closed your eyes and smirked, before taking a sip of tea. He looked overdramatically shocked.

"I don't think we can be friends anymore." He bluntly stated with a tone of voice to say he was joking.

"I second that." You turned to the side dramatically.

It was quiet before Sherry spoke up, "You guys act like a couple, I swear." She huffed before going through your fridge that didn't have much in it. You flinched at her statement before looking over the the pink faced Jack. Your face was probably a dark shade of red as well.

"It's just the forever war between coffee and tea people." Jack said, clearing the tension to make you all start laughing.

"But..I like coffee and tea..." Sherry announced.

"You coffee-drinker!" You exclaimed, "but you also drink tea, how the fuck do i react."

"Why don't you like coffee, Y/n?" Jack asked, looking amazed that you didn't.

"Um..well..." you tried to explain your thoughts but all you came up with was, "its icky for my tongue." He started laughing before taking a drink of tea. "If you don't like tea, why are you drinking it?"

"I don't hate it, but it's also kinda icky for my tongue." he responded, stealing your reason.

You heard a ding and realized it was your phone sitting on the couch. "Be right back." They both nodded and you sat your tea down before going into the living room.

When you looked at your lock screen you were instantly struck with fear.

    1 Message from Brother

You hesitantly opened it, squinting as if it would help. You saw a picture loading up and expected a dick pic, but to your surprise, it was something much...much worse.

He sent a picture of a plane ticket to Brighton, no caption.

The last thing you saw was a small burst of light, then darkness.

Jack's POV

You heard a loud thud and rushed into the living room, only to see Y/n passed out. You quickly picked her up and sat her against the couch, checking her pulse and temperature. "Shit..." You heard Sherry mutter.

"What is it?" You tried making your voice sound calm, but you probably failed.

"Her b-brother..." She broke down and just showed you her phone. Her brother sent a picture of a plane ticket to Brighton. She must've passed out from shock...

You went to her bathroom to get a cool washrag, hopefully waking her up. That sick bastard. Nobody deserves a "brother" that acts like that.

Once the water got around lukewarm, you put it on her forehead and watched her jolt a bit, but not open her eyes. You held her hand in both of yours, squeezing lightly. C'mon...wake up. Please.

Her eyes slowly opened, but they looked dazed.

Suddenly, she jolted up. Her breathing was all over the place. "Brother...p-plane..t..ticket..." You held her against you in a hug, hoping to calm her down. You slowly stroked her hair and asked her to follow your breathing.

You didn't even notice when Sherry got up and started yelling into Y/n's phone.

"Shh...it's okay, Y/n...I'm here...he won't hurt you..." She calmed down a little bit, but was still very jumpy.

Soon, you heard her softly snoring and breathing normally. You smiled at the fact that she calmed down and carried her to her bed, closing the door behind you.

When you came back downstairs, you saw Sherry pacing around the room, Y/n's phone in hand. She was furious. You debated whether or not to go up to her.

Luckily, you didn't have to choose. "That fucking bastard!" She suddenly exclaimed. You were shocked because you didn't know she had it in her to get so upset. She turned to look at me, but seemed to just look right through me. "He just hung up when I fucking called him, saying 'oh yeah I don't give a shit fuck off'" She let out a groan of frustration.

"Fucking asshole..." She trailed off, tears coming to her eyes.
