"This is the private eating area," Rey explained as the door slid open. "I come here a lot to meditate. At least, that's what I try to do. I normally end up raiding the kitchens."
She pointed towards a table and chairs. "Please sit, Kenna. I hope these chairs are more comfortable than the one you were previously in," she smiled.
I promptly slid in and folded my hands in my lap. Kylo shot me one last "I'm watching you" look before following Rey towards the back of the room, where the kitchen was located.
The layout wasn't too different from my school cafeteria, actually. And the room was a light gray with shiny floors, much better than the morbid black room I had been in.
I began tapping on the edge of the table as I waited. I wondered what Kylo was doing with my button and phone. The phone was pretty much useless, I guessed, unless they had wifi in space. And the button, well, I'd already tried pushing it again. I was stuck here, at least for the moment. Hopefully Rey would help me out. Kylo was being rather difficult, but after seeing The Last Jedi, I wasn't too surprised.
The two of them stepped out of the kitchen and walked towards me, Rey's arms full of little packages. My stomach growled as she spread it across the table, and I reached for one of the strange packages. I hesitated.
"Are these like....freeze-dried?" I asked. Rey glanced up at me, lifting an eyebrow. "Like, in space, astronauts eat space-food. Freeze-dried."
"All the food on our ship is normal," Rey's brow puckered.
"Okay," I said skeptically. "He didn't poison it though, right?" I jabbed a thumb in Kylo's direction.
He scowled.
"Eat," Rey laughed at me, and I obeyed. I tore open the package and was pleasantly surprised to see a normal-looking cookie. Apparently Star Wars people weren't so different from real ones. And it smelled heavenly. I took a big bite and chewed rapidly, not caring about my table manners. I was starving. Rey opened a package and ate as well, but Kylo ignored the food. I looked over at him and put a hand over my mouth to cover the crumbs as I said,
"Don't you eat?"
"You realize you're a trespasser, right? Which makes you our prisoner. Just because you're not in restraints doesn't give you the freedom to ask questions." Kylo crossed his arms again.
I shrugged.
"So, Kenna," Rey said, giving Kylo a look, "tell me about yourself. What planet are you from?"
"I'm from Earth," I opened another cookie. "I'm sixteen, I have a pretty big family, and I love watching Star Wars, if you haven't noticed."
"What's Star Wars?" Rey asked innocently. I blinked.
"This. This is Star Wars," I gestured around. "Though, I haven't seen any cameramen following you two around. I also like to swim and I have five cats. They live in our backyard shed 'cuz my mom's allergic."
"Neat!" Rey smiled. "I love cats. Ben has a cat."
"No way," I grinned stupidly.
Kylo shot me glare, then scowled at Rey.
She only chuckled.
"So, Kenna, how is it you ended up on board our ship?" Rey asked me.
I swallowed my last bite of cookie and looked longingly at the pile before answering. "I was at home-"
"Earth?" Rey questioned, and I nodded.
"Earth is not a planet in our system, or any we know," Kylo said tersely.
