"I have not been following you." I find myself responding.
The girl states, "Yes you have. Don't lie and answer my question."
"Okay, fine. You remind me of someone and I was wondering if you could help me."
The girl studies me for a moment. I wonder what she will say. This girl seems very annoyed and threatening.
"What do you want from me?"
I reply, "I am looking for some people so I can bring them back to our village."
This is not a lie.
"What village are you from?" She questions.
"Just a village."
Then the girl turns on me and somehow pins me on to the ground. She says, "You're one of them aren't you. You know nothing about this kingdom. What are you a morphling or a fusion?"
I am shocked. How did this girl figure me out? Was it that obvious? I did not know how to respond. I mean, I did not know if this girl could be trusted. Although she had already guessed the truth.
I say, "You might be right. I may be a morphling. What are you going to do?"
"That depends. What do you want?" The girl states sternly.
I answer, "I told you. I am looking for two girls so that I can bring them back to my kingdom."
"What girls?"
"Pennamore and Persephone. Do you know either of them?" I ask.
The girl responds, "I might know the girl you call Pennamore."
"Really. Will you help me? Where is she?"
"I will only help you if you can help me with something." The girl responds.
I suddenly wonder what is with people wanting my help recently. Why did I seem trustworthy? I was not sure if this girl was pulling a trick or not, but I also needed to find Pennamore and Persephone. If there was a chance of her knowing where either of them are. I needed to know.
"What do you want from me?" I ask.
"Well, I want information."
"What kind of information?" I inquire.
The girl says, "Tell me who sent you and why it is important you actually find these girls you speak of."
I reply, "Well, I might can tell you this information, but not here. Anyone could hear us here."
The girl says, "Then where is it safe to speak?"
"We need somewhere private, where there is no chance of being interrupted."
"This is about as private as it will get, morphling whose name I do not know."
"My name is Noah. What is your name?"
"I'm not stupid. I will not tell you my name. Now, answer me."
"Okay, fine. The King and Queen of my kingdom sent me to find their daughters because the foreigners invaded and stole something of ours called the Annex Guide. That is all you can know. So, can you tell me where to find Pennamore?"
The girl seems a little taken aback by what I tell her, but only for a second. Then she is back to the sternness of which she has been.
She says, "Well, you have to do something else for me. I think you can manage."
"What do you want me to do?" I ask annoyed.
I did not sign up for this. I just wanted to know about Pennamore and Persephone. I might have been more forward if this girl did not know I am a morphling. If she told anyone, bad things could happen, which would not be okay.
"Well, there is something I need from you that not just anyone can accomplish. However, you might can just get away with it."
I say, "Yes, but what do you want?"
This girl was either avoiding my question or does not understand English.
She says, "Just follow me."
What kind of answer is that? What will happen if I follow this girl? Maybe I should just forget this girl and find Pennamore or Persephone on my own. I mean, it can not be that hard to find one of them. Right?
Then she runs off towards the town. I follow because either way, I will get what I need from her. One way or another. She leads me to a building which we enter for a moment before she takes me back out. This will be an interesting adventure. What could this girl want from here that she could not get on her own? I figure I am about to find out.
I follow her down past many places in the town. I never knew someone could move as fast as this girl. I almost lost her at one point, but thankfully I was able to spot her. When I find her again, she is looking down a road. I carefully walk up behind her. She seems to know I am there, because she turns around to me. I am not able to see what she is looking at, but I know it must be important for some reason.
