CHAPTER EIGHTY ONE
Heretofore Arc: Kana's Memories
🅵
_________________________

The little five year old girl gazes around at the insides of the plain and quiet cave. Her gray surroundings are boring compared to the colourful secret Hidden Leaf garden she used to frolic around in.

"Obito..." her soft voice calls out. Fourteen year old Obito Uchiha stands up from his bed and walks over to her. He squats down to little girl's seated level.

"Yes?" he responds.

Kana's big blue eyes pool with tears as she sniffles. Obito's heart instantly feels heavy weighted at the sight. "I miss Konoha." she admits.

Obito quickly engulfs her in a warm hug. Kana feels protected in the familiar arms of the boy whom she has known her whole life. Kana whimpers softly as she reminisces and thinks about her home, The Leaf Village.

Two long days ago, the Nine Tailed Fox was intentionally released into Konoha to raise havoc. Many died giving their lives to protect their home including young Kana's beloved brother and sister in law: Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki.

Kana was brought to a room on the outskirts of her village and was ordered to stay silent until someone arrived after everything was over. The Fourth Hokage made it more than clear that nothing was allowed to happen to his baby sister.

Kakashi entered the room around the same time Kana began to grow impatient. He dutifully informed her that her brother had passed away to save the village. Kakashi tried his best to stay strong as the usually unbreakable girl crumbled upon hearing the devastating news.

He held her tight in his arms as she sobbed.

Then, before either of them had even realised that someone else had entered the room, Kakashi was knocked unconscious and laying on the floor.

When Kana looked up she saw Obito. The boy who was presumed dead.

Without a second thought, she embraced him. After not seeing her friend for so long, and after being told he was brutally killed, little and unknowing Kana couldn't help but feel a small sense of joy.

Obito then took her to his master Madara's hideout under strict orders.

Which is where they are today.

"Why is the old man still sleeping?" innocent Kana asks as she points to the frail man connected to the Gedo Statue.

Obito can't help but chuckle at the little one's choice of words. "He's not just any old man, Kana. He's the old man. The true Uchiha. You know how Minato sensei always spoke about the two legendary shinobi, the fathers of all ninja?" he sits down in front of her.

Kana nods enthusiastically. Big brother Minato's story time was always her favourite. Of course she listened intently.

"Hashirama Senju, and Madara Uchiha." she repeats their names from memory.

"Yes," the old man opens his eyes and peers down at the two sitting on the ground in front of him.

Kana squeals and jumps at the sudden noise from him. She has been here for two days and he had not once moved in all that time. His sudden awakening frightened her greatly.

"Kana, correct?" his croaky voice questions.

She stands up and brushes her clothes slightly. Her black shorts and white hooded jacket above a mesh top had been slightly dirtied from her travels. "Hello, my name is Kana Namikaze. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Uchiha."

Minato and Kushina taught her manners before anything else. She should be kind, even if this old withered man is scary looking and appears to be on the brink of death.

Old Madara cracks a slightly astonished expression. "Polite." he comments. "Young Kana, it is important to understand that there will be war in the future. A war that will change the shinobi world as we know it. Sacrifices will be made, alliances will be created, and many questions will be answered. Victory is essential, and for that to come you must gain knowledge. I have but one fragment of my wisdom to bestow on you. The youth. The youth are the ones who will carry the future, bring about bewildering change to the world, and unite all. The youth is the key to shaping the outcome of this war, young Kana. I ordered Obito to come back with the strongest child he knew, and the moment you entered I understood why. You exert tremendous power and strength from deep within you. It seems that you have not yet tapped into that undiscovered potential. Which is why you shall stay here with Obito and I until the future war so we can train you, and keep a watchful eye over you. I shall be your sensei, and you shall be Obito's junior. One day, Kana, I believe we will meet again, and I believe we will fight." Madara speaks very slowly, as if his lungs might give way and he could die at any given moment.

The small blonde slowly nods her head, unsure of what else to do or say.

The youth... she thinks in astonishment.

"WE'RE BAAAACK!" a loud voice screeches as two white beings enter the cave.

Kana whips her head around in surprise.

Other people live here? she wonders.

"My, my! What a cute little girl!" one rushes up and gets close to her face.

Kana instantly dislikes his close proximity, and instinctively flashes behind him. She throws her arm down and slams him in the back. The white thing instantly falls face first into the floor and groans in utter pain.

Madara watches her natural actions in amazement. This five year old's skills in teleportation are already honed.

Little Kana runs away and hides behind Madara Uchiha. The old man rests his skinny hand on top of Kana's fluffy bright hair.

"Lollipop face is scary." she says to Madara in obvious fear. Her deep blue orbs gaze up into his dark and lifeless ones. Madara is struck by amazement at her mesmerising eye colour.

Obito instantaneously bursts into a roaring fit of laughter and points at Lollipop face while continuing his hysterical howling.

"Guruguru! She called you Lollipop face!" he carries on.

Tobi stands up and touches his back. "G-Geez. Who is this little girl? And... did she just... appear behind me?" he asks in confusion.

After Obito recovers from his fit of laughter, he sits up straight and wipes the tears from beneath his eyes. He shakes his head. "Nah, that was the Flying Raijin Jutsu. Her elder brother's specialty... Little Lady Kana is the younger sister of the late Yellow Flash of The Leaf. The only difference is she just doesn't need to mark the place she's teleporting to."

Zetsu glances at the little girl beside Madara with clear intrigue. "So, you're the Last Yellow Flash, or something, huh?" he voices his thoughts aloud.

Kana blinks rapidly at the new nickname, then nods in agreement.

Tobi stands up straight. "So is Baby Flash another one of your pupils in training?" he queries.

Madara nods his head. "Since I am unable to leave the Gedo Statue, I am trusting you, Zetsu and Tobi, to help train her into our ultimate weapon for the war."

Ultimate weapon.

Kana likes the sound of that.
