I have written of the stars

and been drunk off their brilliance

but never have I been scourged

by one like this-

Placed among the heavens

with the gods to reign,

but his arms hold no mercy,

his shadows no comfort.

I keep trying to sleep with a mouthful;

I keep choking on my sorrows.

Forgetfulness is fickle and fleeting,

racking my tomb with curious stares:

one moment dead air, another caterwauling.

Sunshine, rain, hail, snow; a slow degression of the heart.

No forecast to predict but an ever changing tempest

of lost faith.

Whether mysteries of destiny

or laughings of fate,

I am doomed to love one

with a desolate past.

Once I only wished to be those ever shadowed tears:

the falling stars from curious eyes.

Now I only wish to stop them.
