Lost Child

As I indulge myself in loss
The energy fades to black
Like a flash, all is gone
All is over.

Some innocence is lost
And it tugs at the heart
Let me be that child again
Before all is lost.

As I submerge myself in regret
The tower starts to fall
Like an ant, brick by boring brick
I built it up again and stand tall.

All may be over
But all is not done
All may be gone
But all is not done.

Close my eyes to the darkness
Open them at dawn
Let me be that child again
Or leave my heart to mourn.
