A NEW WORLD

Chapter Three

The next morning Tucker is in his ready room sitting behind his desk looking at his computer when the door buzzer sounds, he sets up in his chair and straightens up his  USA ship uniform.  "  Enter." The door opens and in walks, Jennifer wearing her  USA ship uniform, then the door closes behind her.  " Good  morning  Commander."  Jennifer walks up  to Tucker's desk.    " Good morning Captain, are you ready for your tour now?"  Tucker stands up.   "Yeah let's go."  They leave the ready room, and five hours later they arrive back into the ready room.  Tucker sits back behind his desk while Jennifer stands in front of it.  " Thank  you  for  the  tour  of  the  ship  Commander."   " Sure, Tucker you've not said really anything to me the whole time, what is it?"  Tucker looks at Jennifer and as he looks at her he can feel his heart beating in his chest, but he can't decide if it's anger or love that he had for her at one time resurfacing.  " I didn't know you had a son."  " I  was  going  to  tell  you  when  we  all  had  time  last  night."    "Yeah.  I  want  to  see  my  senior  staff  in  the  briefing  room  in  a  hour." "  Yes  sir,  are  you  mad  at  me?"  "  No  I'm  just  surprised  that's  all,  you're  dismissed."  Jennifer  does  an  about  face  then  leaves  the  ready  room,   Tucker  turns  back  to  reading  on  his  computer.  An  hour  passes  and  Tucker  is  in  the  briefing  room  sitting  at  the  head  of  a  long  table  with  all  the  senior  officers  sitting  in  their  seats  in  front  of  him.  " Hi  everyone,  I  want  the  Ohio  to  be  ready  to  depart  dock  in  two  hours  because  we'll  be  leaving  dock  in  three  hours,  so  make  sure  all  of  your  people  are  on  board  and  accounted  for,  any  questions?"  A  white  woman  wearing  her  USA  ship  uniform  by  the  rank  of  Commander  raises  her  hand.  " Yes  Commander?"   " Commander  Lisa  Tipps  of  the  helmsman  department  sir,  what  are  we  looking  for  out  there?"  Tucker  looks  at  Lisa  and  smiles.  " Home,  you  all  are  dismissed."  Tucker  stands  up  and  leaves,  then  everyone  else  leaves  too.  Tucker  is  sitting  in  the  captain's  chair  on  the  bridge  looking  at  the  view  screen  when  Jennifer  walks  up  to  him,  he  looks  at  her  and  smiles  and  she  looks  at  him.  " Tucker  what's  the  problem?"  "  There's  no  problem."  Jennifer  holds  back  the  frustration  that's  building  up  inside  her.  "  Please  tell  me  what's  wrong."  Tucker  stands  up.  " Come  with  me." Jennifer follows Tucker to his ready room, the door closes behind them, Tucker leans on his desk facing  Jennifer,  and Jennifer stands to look at him and waits to hear what he has to say.  " I  don't  know  how  to  say  this  so  I'll  just  come  right  out  with  it,  Jennifer  this  isn't  going  to  work,  us  working  together  I  mean."  Jennifer  sighs  out  loud.   " Why  not?"   " Well  because  I...  I...  I  still  have  strong  feelings  for  you  and  I  know  that's  wrong  on  so  many  levels."  Jennifer  walks  slowly  up  to  Tucker.  " I  still  have  strong  feelings  for  you  too,  but  that  wont  get  in  the  way  of  me  doing  my  job."  "Jennifer  I  love  you,  I've  always  loved  you  even  before  we'd  graduated  from  the  academy."  Jennifer  gets  closer  to  Tucker  to  where  there's  only  a  couple  of  inches  between  them,  they  stand  face  to  face  looking  into  each  other's  eyes.  Tucker  starts  to  feel  hot  and  bothered,  Jennifer  notices  and  speaks.  " I  love  you  too  Tucker."  Jennifer  closes  her  eyes  and  Tucker  slowly  closes  in  on  her  soft  wet  lips  with  a  kiss,  he  touches  her  cheeks  with  his  hands  and  then  holds  her  in  his  arms,  and  Jennifer  lets  her  mind  shut  down  and  enjoys  this  moment  of  which  she  has  been  hoping  would  come  alone  after  she  had  seen  Tucker  for  the  first  time  on  board  the  Ohio.  Tucker  moves  his  hands  slowly  up  to  Jennifer's  breasts,  she  moans  a  little,  Tucker  can  feel  his  heart  beating  in  his  chest,  and  then  the  door  buzzer  sounds.  They  pull  away  from  each  other  and  straighten  their  uniforms,  Jennifer  sits  in  a  chair  in  front  of  Tucker's  desk  and  Tucker  sits  at  his  desk.  " Come  in!" The door opens and in walks, a four-foot man wearing a USA security uniform with the rank of  Commander, the door closes while the man walks up to Tucker's desk.  Tucker  looks  surprise  but  smiles,  the  man  smiles  and  extends  his  hand. "    Captain  I'm  Commander  Derek  Bloom  your  chief  of  security."  Tucker  shakes  Derek's  hand.  " My  chief  of  security,  like  my  own  security  detail?"  Jennifer  smiles  at  Tucker.  " No  Captain,  the  chief  of  security  of  this  ship."  Jennifer  tells  him  while  still  smiling  at  him.  Derek  sits  in  the  other  chair  in  front  of  Tucker's  desk.  Tucker  leans  forward  on  his  desk  with  his  elbows and  looking  at  Derek,  Derek  looks  at  Tucker  too.  " I'm  sorry  I  was  unable  to  be  at  your  first  briefing  Captain  but  I  was  organizing  a  security  detail  for  you."   " For  me?"   " Yes  sir,  I  have  two  security  people  at  your  cabin  and  here  at  your  ready  room,  there  will  be  security  posted  there  and  here  at  all  times  sir."  Tucker  can't   grasp  the  concept  of  a  small  person  being  his  chief  of  security  and  dishing  out  orders  to  tall  grown  people,  just  the  thought  itself  makes  Tucker  want  to  bust  out  laughing,  but  he  holds  the  laughter  in  and  just  keeps  smiling.  " Thank  you  Commander."  While  Tucker's  talking  to  Derek,  Jennifer  is  deep  in  thought  about  what  just  happened  between  her  and  Tucker  and  how  much  they  really  love  each  other.  She  thinks  about  her  marriage  to  her  husband  and  how  it  doesn't  really  seem  or  feel  like  a  marriage  anymore,  not  because  Tucker's  in  the  picture  now,  but  because  of  the  marriage  is  just  strained  and  there's  really  no  strong  relationship  or  love  in  the  marriage  anymore,  at  least  it  hasn't  been  lately  from  her  or  Tatto,  She  starts  to  think  back  as  to  why  she  had  fell  in  love  with  Tatto  in  the  first  place  and  as  she  remembers  she  starts  to  feel  torn  between  Tucker  and  Tatto,  She  feels  someone  tapping  her  on  the  left  shoulder,  she  focusses  on  who  it  is  and  sees  Derek  standing  beside  her  and  she  looks  at  Tucker  only  to  see  him  and  Derek  looking  at  her,  she  puts  her  attention  on  Derek.  " Yeah  Derek?"  " Jennifer  are  you  alright?  "  Jennifer  smiles  at  Derek.  " Yes  I  am."   " I  said  bye  I'll  see  you  later."  "Oh sorry,  bye  Derek."  Derek  heads  toward  the  door  while  shaking  his  head,  and  he  leaves.  Jennifer  sees  Tucker  still  looking  at  her.  " So  how  does  a  little  person  become  my  chief  of  security?"  Jennifer  leans  back  in  her  chair  and  starts  to  explain.   "Derek  is  more  than  qualified  for  the  job  of  chief  of  security,  he  knows  a  lot  of  martial  arts  and  he's  trained  in  security,  he  is  the  very  best  in  his  field."  Jennifer can see the surprised look on Tucker's face.  " Oh  wow,  is  there  anymore  little  people  that  are  department  heads?"   " Yes  there's  your  chief  medical  officer  Commander  Sally  Brier,  oh  and  your  chief  yeoman  Crewwoman  First  Class  Susan  Hollard,  she  should  be  coming  on  board  the  ship  soon,  oh  and  by  the  way  Derek  and  Sally  are  seeing  each  other."  Tucker  just  stares  at  Jennifer  with  a  blank  expression  on  his  face.  " Tucker?"  Tucker  comes  out  of  staring  at  her.   " Yeah  I'd  heard  you  Jennifer."   " Well  we  might  should  be  getting  on  the  bridge  Tucker,  everyone  should  be  about  on  board  the  ship  by  now."  Tucker  stands  up  and  Jennifer  does  too.  " You're  right,  let's  go  to  the  bridge."  They  both  leave  the  ready  room  with  Tucker  leading.
