A NEW WORLD

CHAPTER TEN

Two full months have past and there has been no word at all from the USA Ohio, Jennifer is laying on a gurney in a hospital room waiting for the nurse to return with the pregnancy tests and lab tests results, finally, the nurse walks in smiling, and Jennifer sits up and speaks. " Well?" The nurse stands close to Jennifer and looks at her. " You've been gaining weight, having cravings, and feeling sick sometimes because you're pregnant, Madam President."  Jennifer is surprised by the news, that she starts to feel flushed, she looks at the floor and then back at the nurse and speaks.  " Nurse that can't be, my husband and I haven't had sex in I don't know how long, are you quite sure I'm pregnant?" " Yes, I'm quite sure Madam President, you are pregnant." " What about the lab tests?" " The lab tests came back fine and normal, for a pregnant woman.  According to the lab tests, you're pregnant with twins." Jennifer slowly lays back down. " How can I be pregnant, I..."  Her voice gets softer and lower. " Oh my." Jennifer sits up quick and looks at the nurse without saying anything, the nurse waits for Jennifer to speak but she just looks at her, finally, the nurse speaks.  " Madam President, are you ok?" Jennifer blinks her eyes and starts to hurry out of the room.  " I have to go, I'll call for an appointment to see my doctor, thank you nurse."  Jennifer leaves the room and the door closes behind her.  Hours pass and Jennifer is in the communications room at USA Headquarters talking to the chief of communications Don Florence.  " Don has your people had any luck on contacting the Ohio yet?"  Don looks at Jennifer and speaks.  " No Madam President, and we've been trying for months now, but we'll keep on trying." " Thank you, keep me posted."  Jennifer walks slowly away as Don turns and walks the other way, Jennifer leaves the room.  The next day Jennifer and her presidential guards are at the river where the Ohio crash landed years ago, Jennifer sits down on the grass letting the nice breeze blow over her, Jennifer looks up at the nice clear blue sky and white puffy clouds, the guards scatter in defense mode when they hear something approaching them, the guards look around without leaving Jennifer, they point their handheld mini blasters in the direction of where they are looking, after waiting for a few minutes a white horse with wings emerges from the wooded area, a horse breed they call Pegasus, Jennifer looks at the horse as the horse eats and pays them all no mind, Jennifer speaks.  " Aw look, it's a pegasus."  Since the people of Earth settle on Eden and civilization has rapidly evolved the way it did, now they had found out that all pegasuses are male and all unicorns are female, and all unicorns have wings too, Jennifer stands up and walks slowly toward the pegasus, the pegasus stops eating, and looks at Jennifer, Jennifer stops in her tracks and the pegasus snorts at her and then flies off into the sky, Jennifer and her guards watch the pegasus as he flies away.  In the near distance, a helicopter lands on the other side of the wooded area in a clear field, two presidential guards and Kendrick Watson her son steps out and walks fast over to her, Jennifer hugs Kendrick, Jennifer invites Kendrick to sit with her on the grass and he does, while the guards keep watch over them both, Kendrick looks at Jennifer and speaks. " Mom, what's going on, why did you want me to come here?"  Even though Kendrick is only nine, he's very smart for a kid his age, Jennifer looks at him and smiles. " Ken, remember when I had to go to the doctor because I wasn't feeling well?"  Kendrick shakes his head. " Well, the reason I haven't been feeling good lately is because I'm pregnant."  Kendrick smiles while looking at Jennifer and speaks. " You're pregnant? So I'm going to have a brother or sister?" Jennifer smiles at him as she sees the excitement on his face, and she replies. " Well, that could be, or I could have both, I'm pregnant with twins." Kendrick jumps to his feet with total excitement and hugs Jennifer, Jennifer lets out a giggle as the force of Kendrick going in to hug her pushes her back a little, as they are hugging five men walk toward them from the wooded area, the guards intersect the men, hearing the commotion coming from the wooded area Jennifer and Kendrick stop hugging and look to see what's going on, the guards and the men begin to shout angerly at each other, Jennifer gets up. " Ken stay here please." Jennifer starts walking toward the men and the guards as they are still shouting at each other, Jennifer gets to them and everyone gets quiet all at once, Jennifer looks at a man who looks like he is the leader of the five men and speaks to him. " Sir, what do you and your men want?"  The lead man smiles at Jennifer and speaks. " Madam President, this planet was supposed to be just like Earth, but the system here ain't like Earth at all."  Jennifer narrows her look at him. " Like how?" " Well like it seems to a bunch of us that you're President over the whole dang planet and not just the space agency." " Yes well, some things have changed in that aspect, but it's still a fair system, people still can vote on things." One man from the other men steps forward toward Jennifer and speaks. " We don't think it's right for one woman to rule over a world full of people." Jennifer looks at the other man and speaks. " Ok noted, when it comes time to vote for a President again, then you all can cast your votes for a male." The lead man kinda backs the other man from him and Jennifer, the other man gets the gesture and goes to stand back with the other men.  The lead man speaks to Jennifer. " Madam President, we'll be going, and we'll make our own country with our own rules and government, we'll see who all wants to leave with us, you people stay on your side of the planet and we'll stay on ours."  Jennifer feels herself getting angry over this stupid argument, but calms herself down with the thought of her family, which is only her, Kendrick, and the unborn twins for now. " Very well, but I'm sorry it came to this, we all have to work together to live on this planet." The lead man smirks at her and then turns and walks away, the other men follow after him, Jennifer looks at the guards and then turns back toward Kendrick and walks as the guards follow and stay with her.  Two weeks pass and still no contact with the Ohio, Jennifer is in her office at her desk at USA Headquarters when her door buzzer sounds. " Come in." The door opens and in walks a woman wearing a grey suit, the door closes behind her as she walks up to Jennifer and speaks.  " Madam President, I'm a presidential guard, I'm agent  Magan Palasky."  Jennifer reaches her hand out to shake Magan's and Magan shakes hands with Jennifer as Jennifer speaks. " Glad to meet you Agent Palasky."  Magan smiles and speaks. " Thank you Madam President, I'm happy to meet you, I'll be your lead guard on your detail." Jennifer smiles at Magan.  " That's great, I'm happy to have a woman on my detail." Magan turns her head so that Jennifer will not see her blushing, Magan can feel her cheeks getting hot and can imagine them turning red, she has been waiting a while to get this detail and she doesn't want anything to mess this up for her.  " I'm happy to be here ma'am, I'll just leave you to your work, ma'am."  Magan turns toward the door and starts to walk, but she stops when Jennifer speaks to her.  " Oh no problem, please won't you sit down?" Magan turns to Jennifer and smiles. " I'm sorry ma'am, but I do have to get my paperwork done." " Oh of course, I didn't realize that you had any paperwork to do, by all means go get it done." " Yes ma'am." Magan turns and leaves the office and the door closes behind her.  Every day is basically the same old routine for everyone in the government, days pass by, weeks pass by, and then months pass by. Jennifer is in the hospital ready to give birth to the twins, her contractions are getting closer and closer, Magan is standing beside Jennifer's hospital bed holding her hand and at times being squeezed by Jennifer, finally  it's time for the babies to be born, the doctor and the nurses are in the room around Jennifer as she closes her eyes and push, and at the same time squeezing Magan's hand tighter, Magan holds herself back from yelling in pain while at the same time encouraging Jennifer to keep on pushing.  After ten minutes later a baby girl is born, and then another baby girl, after the last baby girl is born Jennifer relaxes her grip on Magan's hand, and they both let out a big sigh of relief.  The doctor brings Jennifer both babies at the same time, Jennifer holds both babies while two nurses clean blood and waste spots off of the bed and off the sheets, after twenty minutes everyone but Magan is gone out of the room, Jennifer is laying down and Magan is sitting down in a chair beside Jennifer's bed, Jennifer looks at Magan and speaks. "Where're my babies?" Magan looks at Jennifer and smiles. " The nurses took them to the nursery, so what are you going to name them?" Jennifer looks up at the ceiling and thinks for a minute. " I think I'll name the first one Lovia Marka Tyo and the second I'll name her,  Zyann Yendia Tyo, Tyo is my maiden name." Magan looks at Jennifer and smiles again at her. " Those are some really cool names ma'am." Jennifer looks at Magan. " I can't wait for Kendrick to hold them, he's so excited about being the big brother."  Magan can see that Jennifer is very tired and so she stands up.  " Ma'am I'm going to let you sleep, I'll be right outside the door if you need me." Jennifer looks at Magan. " Thank you Magan, for everything you've done for me." Magan smiles at Jennifer as Jennifer drifts off to sleep, Magan gently brushes a strand of hair off of Jennifer's face, she bends down and kisses Jennifer softly on the forehead, and then leaves the room.  Two days later Jennifer, Magan, Kendrick, and the twins are at the river having a picknick while the rest of the guards are spread out securing the area, Jennifer is holding Lovia while Magan is holding Zyann, Kendrick is playing a video game, Jennifer looks at everyone and smiles, everything is so good at this moment, it's a nice day, and good food which Magan made for them, Kendrick gets done playing with his game and stands up, he looks at Jennifer. " Hey Mom, can I go looking around?"  Jennifer looks at him and smiles. " As long as your detail is with you." Kendrick smiles and then runs over to his security detail, Magan looks at Jennifer and smiles as Jennifer looks back at her and smiles. " Ma'am you have some beautiful children." " Thank you Magan, please call me Jennifer when we're alone."  Magan looks down at Zyann sleeping in her arms. " Thank you Magan for the picknick, I think we all needed this."  Without looking at Jennifer, Magan responds. " You're welcome Jennifer." Jennifer looks at Lovia sleeping in her arms and then looks out at the horizon. " I wish that the Ohio was here, or that we can contact them, we don't know if they're alive or dead."  Magan looks up from looking at Zyann to looking at Jennifer.  " We're still here, and life does go on, I have friends on the Ohio as well."  As the sitting sun brightens up the horizon with beautiful colors, Jennifer sees a flock or herd of flying horses fly together, some pegasus and some unicorns across the sky. " Hey Magan look toward the sunset." Magan looks and sees the magnifficent flying creatures flying across the sky. " Wow, that's something you wont see on Earth." " No you wont, this is truely a new world."  The sun is almost down and Magan gets up, she lays Zyann down and start packing the picknick things up, Jennifer lays Lovia down and helps Magan.  After everything is packed up they get the twins and then head toward the guards as they walk side by side.
