The Beginning of the School Year
"Well, what do you know? Miss Katherine Rodgers has generously graced me with her presence," sarcasm practically dripped from his mouth as he spoke.
I closed my locker lightly, which is oh so conveniently next to his own, and clenched my teeth.
"It's Katie, c'mon, say it with me. K A T I E, Katie," I cooed in a baby voice like my preschool teacher.
"Hey! Have some respect for a lifeguard, one who could save your petty life one day," he proudly announced.
I muttered as I walked away, "Lifeguard, my ass."
