Random change, just stupid dumb luck. Because luck is neither good nor bad it just simply is a scale of odds. You can't control it, change it, or touch it. But it will control, change and touch you. And there's not anything any being in any reality can do about it. There are those that claim possession of that power but in reality, they are merely bending it. But it will snap back and hurt them for what they do. It could have been anyone, but it's you. And 'could' doesn't matter.
Because, no one is chosen.
