Opening my eyes I blinked, struggling to see though the smoke and fog that filled the car. Coughing, I looked down at the ragged gash in my arm before turning to the side and freezing. Destiny, was sat slumped in her seat, a large gash on her forehead, her eyes closed and her mouth slightly parted, a small trickle of blood coming from the corner of her mouth.

“Destiny!” I cried, hastily unbuckling my seatbelt and crawling over the broken glass that littered the seat to her side.

“Destiny baby wake up!” I pleaded, nudging her gently, however her head just rolled pathetically to the side.

“Destiny come on!” I cried, shaking her a little, “You can’t… you can’t do this to me!”

Changing her position so her head was lying in my lap, I hesitantly placed my hand over her neck feeling for a pulse, which after almost an eternity I found.

“Thank God,” I muttered, “Come on Des, please wake up, you’re okay, you’re fine!”

Untying my plaid shirt from around my waist I pressed it to her forehead, the blood soaking though to my hand almost instantly.

“Shit!” I gasped, “Destiny please don’t do this, you’re okay, there is no way you’re leaving me I just got you back.”

“Ashton?” she whimpered.

“Yes? Oh Destiny!” I cried in relief, sitting her up a little, “God, you scared me I thought I lost you.”

“My head hurts.” She whispered, before starting to cry.

“No, no, princess it’s okay, I’ve got you. You’re gonna be okay.”

Looking around panicked, I realized just how serious the accident was. The was totaled, the front seat almost completely crushed, the Hummer was also pretty banged up, it’s driver, a sobbing woman, screaming on the sidewalk pointing to our car, a huddled group of onlookers gathered around her.

Surveying the damage they probably thought we were dead. Feeling sick I suddenly remembered Caroline, feeling guilty for forgetting her, I gently laid Destiny down on the seat.

“Ash!” she whimpered.

“It’s okay, I’m right here.” I soothed, gently tucking her hair behind her ear, “I’m gonna get us out of here.”

“D-don’t leave me.” She whimpered.

“I’m not going anywhere.” I reassured her kissing her cheek gently.

Whimpering softly, she reached out for me and my heart ached not being able to hold her, however I forced myself to crawl in between the front seats and the sight in front of me made my blood run cold.

Slumped over the steering wheel, her face unrecognizable from smashing though the windshield was Caroline.

“Ashton.” Destiny whimpered.

“I-uh-I’m right here baby.” I mumbled, “Hold on.”

Turning back to Caroline I took a deep breath before gently  reaching an arm under her and helping her back into her seat, where her body slumped pathetically, shards of glass imbedded in her arms and torso.

I honestly thought she was dead, until she moaned, and blinked, fluttering her brown eyes open.

“Ashto….” She whimpered.

“Hey,” I sided softly, “Hey I’m right here.”

Reaching out tentatively, I brushed her hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.
