Sleeping With A Ghost

Separate.

Alone but together.

In the company of a ghost.

Reach over to touch you, to take your hand.

No, empty bed.

Sigh and try to sleep,

Wishing you were there,

Curled up tight,

Imagining your warmth upon my back,

An arm around my waist,

My hand laced with yours.

Your breath soft on my neck,

Sleeping with a ghost.

~

The urge to touch,

To hold,

To be held,

To never be alone again.

Held back,

Impaired,

Hands pressed to glass,

Look, don't touch.

A little Doomsday,

Trapped away from you,

All I want is you, in every way.

~

The days spent eagerly awaiting your replies,

The replies with gentle kisses and arms clasped tight,

With pleasured sighs and laughter,

With sweet nights spent tangled up.

Good...

But not enough.

We try to do enough, or what we can,

Screaming our love but not able to express,

Never enough.

~

But we try, we press close,

We share every moment possible,

Imagine the other there,

Look at the picture again,

Promise to run to you,

Can't run, never fast enough.

Running in place,

Sleeping with a ghost to keep my sanity.
