After breakfast, Zenos took Alana on a tour. Gigi and Fifi tagged along, practically glued onto Alana's side. She couldn't understand their fascination. She was never an interesting person to be around. Once people got past the attractive exterior and realised she was just as boring as the next person, they left her alone.
What's more, these fairie sprites weren't normal people. If she considered the ranks Zenos explained to her earlier about the six realms, Alana was practically inferior to them.
Why did they follow her as if they were ready to lay their lives down for her? This thought brought back an image of Kilan's disappearing form.
A shiver ran through her as she relived the moment of his death. Tears pricked her eyes and Alana felt completely at an impasse as to why was she mourning for his loss? They barely had been acquaintances let alone friends.
Might it be the Adrenalin kicking in during that time? The thought of death on all corners that could have created an attachment to Kilan. He had saved her twice. Maybe this was the reason why the thought of him almost brought her to tears. His sacrifice was unforgettable.
"Zenos?"
"Yes, Miss Alana."
Alana still couldn't get used to the formal way he addressed her.
I mean, who was the immortal one here?
"Have you ever heard of a fairie sprite named Kilan?" Alana asked.
"A fairie sprite name Kilan?" Zenos tested the name. "Hmmm...unfortunately the only fairie sprites I know are Gigi and Fifi, anyone else besides the boundary of Master's realm is stranger to me."
"Okay." Alana felt her hope depleting.
"Why do you ask?"
"He was with me in the cell the fire demon threw me in. He saved me. He sacrificed his life for me... and his body perished against the fire demon's flames."
"Ah." Zenos became somber. "That fire demon was notorious for terrorising the fairie realm. The fairie king wasn't happy about his invasions and used a seal to prevent him from ever entering the fairie realm again. He then escaped the demon realm through evil portals your mortals unknowingly open up. His goal was to get Master Lylas to notice him so he would defeat him. Little did he know, Master, is undefeated."
Alana nodded. "Is there no way of ever saving Kilan?"
"If he perished Miss Alana, then I'm afraid his essence is gone from existence."
Alana became even more solemn.
Zenos noticed her saddened expression. "If it helps, I can teach you how you can create an epitaph in his name to remember him by."
Alana quirked at this, nodding eagerly. Zenos then promised her later to teach her how to create this epitaph.
The tour was spectacular on Alana's part. That was because Lylas's place was really more of a palace with many houses sectioned off to create a kingdom of sort. To take this tour on foot would require more than one day to complete. There was also a convenient and thrilling way to achieve this and that was to ride along Zenos's green misty cloud.
When Alana first hopped on, she expected the cloud to be formless and to fall through it. She was surprised to find how sturdy that misty cloud was, as if she were in an invisible elevator. She felt weightless—as if she were flying—as Zenos guided through each and every house.
