Chapter 4 Memories that fade like photographs

Chapter 4 

"So what bands do you listen to?" Jack asked breaking the awkward silence.

"Blink-182, Green day, linkin Park, escape the fate bands like them" she smiled. "what about you guys?"

"pretty much the same. but we love All Time Low!" Alex said winking at Jack and Rian.

"Who's All Time Low?"

"just this really awesome band." Jack laughed.

"It's us!" Rian said.

"speaking about that.. what are you doing after school tonight?" Jack asked.

"i'm not sure."

"you should come watch us at band practice."

"that would be awesome! i'll have to ask my dad tho."

They talked a bit before the bell rang. Eliza was pretty happy about being friends with them, they seemed really nice!

She had English and Science after lunch then she met Josh at his car.

"Hey Josh..?"

"what do you want?" he grinned.

"do you mind if i walk home with some friends?"

"go for it. i'll let dad know."

"Thanks." she kissed him on the cheek.

Jack and Alex came running out of the front gate. Jack was chasing after Alex who was waving a flat-cap around.

"They act like 2 year olds i swear!" Rian laughed, they started walking together.

"Alex give me back my hat." Jack wined.

"You have to come and get it!" He laughed

"So. what do you do in the band?" Eliza asked Rian.

"I play the drums." he replied.

Jack came walking back to them with his hat in his hand and a big grin on his face.

They passed the park that was up-a-head. Alex was sitting on the ground looking very annoyed.

'What did you do Jack?" Rian asked.

Jack simply reached into his pocket and pulled out a mobile phone, and smiled at Alex.

"give me back my phone you ass-hole." Alex wined. Alex looked like he had been tackled to the groud by Jack.

"you have to come and get it!" Jack decided to be nice and just chucked in to Alex.

"I'll be like 2 seconds!" Eliza said while opening the front door to her house.

"hey sweetie. How was school?" her dad asked while reading a news-paper.

"it was good! can i go with some friends to their house and watch them practice?" she asked all in the one breath.

her dad had a puzzled look on his face.

"their in a band."

"i guess you can. but be back by 6 for dinner and stay safe." he kissed her on the forehead while she lent over and hugged him.

"thanks."

"This is Rian's house! his mum and dad are still at work so we've got the house to ourselves!" Jack smiled.

She followed them all down a staircase and into a basement. their was a drum kit up against the wall in the far corner, a couch, 3 guitars on stands, 3 microphones and a couple of amps around the room.

"make yourself comfortable." Alex said while throwing a pillow at her that was on the couch. she sat down waiting for them to set their instruments up. She knew what Rian played but she was really interested to find out who would be singing, or even if they had a singer.

'We have to wait for Zack to get here.. he should be here any second." Alex said.

Jack walked up stairs, "i'll be back in a second." he shouted.

Rian seemed bored as he was tapping some rhythm out on his drums.

"Rian, shut the fuck up!" Alex yelled over his loud drums.

a boy with curly, light blonde hair walked down the staris.

"Hey." Alex and Rian said at the same time.

"Zack this is Eliza.. Eliza this is Zack our bass player."

"Hi." she said politely.

Jack came running down the stairs.

not long after they all grabbed their instruments, Jack played Guitar as did Alex. Zack was playing a bass and Rian was on the drums.

"This songs called. Memories That Fade Like Photographs." Alex said into the microphone.

"I said I'd never forget your face

vaulted away inside my head

and memories never seem to fade

you were the best part of my life:my last regret

Now I've walked this line a thousand times before

it hurts too much to bear FOR YOU

I'd tear out my own heart

and write our names together"

Alex sang into the microphone. He had such an amazing voice, Eliza was shocked!
