The darkness always seems to hide in between the cracks of life and time,
Patiently waiting to come out and swallow another person into its void.
It slinks around in the morning,
Avoiding the people on the street and hops from alley to alley,
Looking for the prey it can devour.
The darkness has one intention alone,
To submerge you into it,
Drown you in it,
Bury you under it's heavy weight.
Once in the dark,
You become blind to where you are.
Who you are.
Who are you?
You are stumbling around,
trying to claw your way out of it,
but the most horrifying part is
The dark is nothing but a mask that hides the face of death.
Death is the demon who slithers in the darkness waiting to clutch onto the arms of the ones you love.
Thank god for the darkness,
For it prevents you from seeing it's hideous face.
Unless you are unlucky like me,
For I had seen that unholy face.
It may not have arrived for me
But I saw it from a far.
So, the irrational fear people have for the dark is not because of the darkness itself.
They are afraid of what is inside of it,
Watching and waiting to steal away the people who you love.
