You can't help but feel a chill run up and down your spine as the taxi stops outside a large and darkly decorated mansion.

You were told that the house was big as a forewarning but nobody said anything about any mansions. Your stomach dropping into your butt as your eyes regretfully scan the front windows.

They're huge...how does anybody expect me to even reach them from the outside?!

Stepping out of the cab, you make your way to the trunk, tiredly taking out your luggage. There's something strange about this place, a heavy feeling in your stomach and goosebumps showing up on your arms and refusing to leave.

You can even see the taxi driver watching your every step impatiently, clearly he wants to get out of here as soon as possible, this is the first taxi ride you've ever had when the driver doesn't get out of the car to help you unload your luggage. Not that you blame him though.

This place feels wrong...

The second you close the trunk the taxi takes off, leaving you there without even giving you a chance to pay for the service. Usually you'd be happy about such an error but you're honestly a little more frightened now than you were before, you're entirely on your own.

"Hello there, are you the new maid?"

Well, maybe not entirely...

Turning to face the mysterious voice your orbs land on a tall man with brown hair, he's dressed very formally, somewhat looking old-fashioned. The fact that the sun is beginning to set just gives his skin a pretty glow and somehow makes the color of his eyes stand out.

Holy hell, he's pretty...

"Y-Yeah!"

You couldn't really find any good words, your mind was still trying to work out who this guy even is, he sure isn't the same person you spoke to over the phone, his voice and attitude is all too different.

The man I spoke to sounded old...

"Ah, excellent. My name is Thatch, I'm the eldest son of the family." The man politely hums, as he steps closer to you, gently taking your luggage out of your hands. "Here, allow me. I am informed that you're staying with us? I will show you to your room."

You comply to his request silently, your brows still furrowed at him in question though. The man on the phone mentioned nothing about children, although, looking at this gentleman you'd argue that he's certainly not a child. But he did say he was the 'eldest' son, you begin to wonder just how many sons potentially live here.

Ew, what if there's children? I hate messy children...

"I'm terribly sorry for the confusion," The male begins as he leads you toward the big double doors of the mansion, clearly picking up on your curious vibes. "My father was supposed to greet you but he had to go away last minute on business so responsibility to greet you and care for my brothers naturally fell to me. I hope you don't mind."

And then it hits you.

I'm coming off as rude!

"N-No, no! It's not a problem at all, sorry! I-I just wasn't aware that the caller had sons is all!" You could practically kick yourself for stuttering all over the place like an idiot but you'd wager that self-assault in front of such a high class individual would only make things more awkward.

Upon entering the mansion your eyes just about spring from your skull, the hallway is massive and the floor is made of marble. There's a big staircase ahead of you, it's the sort of thing you'd expect to see in a fairy tale but it also has a darkness to it, it gives you a bittersweet feeling.

What is it with this place?

The brunette politely leads you up the stairs, the atmosphere all of a sudden darkening, it feels like you've just stepped into hell and you're following Satan to his throne. Your legs start to feel weakened to the point where keeping up with Thatch's walking pace feels near impossible and your heart feels like it had just been frozen in place, as if you're about to drop-down dead at any given moment.

Why am I so nervous?! This guy is being nice to me!

"S-So, what happened to the last maid?" You force as much confidence as you can into your question but to no avail, your trembling voice betrays you. Thatch stopping in his tracks and turning his head to peek at you over his shoulder.

His eyes look different now that he's indoors, they're still pretty but without the dimming sunlight shining on them, they actually look more human. There's something about him that still feels wrong though.

"Oh...you don't know?" He questions calmly, his voice is quiet yet haunting, as if it's sinful that you're unaware of why the last maid is no longer around. "She had quite the fright..."

A fright? WHAT?!

"Fright...?"

The brunette turns his attention back ahead, completely ignoring your echo as he guides you along the corridor as if neither of you had said anything at all. You hesitantly follow behind him, every instinct is telling you to say 'fuck this job' and leave but you know you need the money.

It's just nerves, [F/n]...It's your first time in a mansion, that's all. Your mind is just playing tricks on you...

All attempts to reassure yourself seem to have worked for now, a content smile on your face as you follow the brunette's lead.

"Here's your room." Stopping and opening the last door on the right, Thatch turns to you and smiles faintly, gesturing for you to enter your new quarters. Something about his eyes has you stumped though, there's a kind of devious glint to them, an 'enter at your own risk' kind of look.

No, [F/n], you're being paranoid!

As you force aside your worries and enter the room, you hear Thatch faintly chuckle to himself but he quickly falls silent as you swing around, locking eyes with him. You start to second-guess yourself, if you're going crazy or if this guy is actually messing with you.

"There is a bathroom attached to this room right over there," He gestures to a door on the far side of the bedroom, his gentle smile still plastered across his face. "There's also a bathtub in there, feel free to use it whenever you wish, our home is your home now. I cook the dinners."

Well...at least he doesn't expect me to cook. I'm a maid, not a chef.

You begin to scan the room that you'll be sleeping in, it's completely spotless and looks very comfortable, you can already tell by looking at the bed that it's going to feel like you're sleeping on a cloud.

This place might be creepy but it's sure beautiful...

"You can begin your duties tomorrow. Please, rest for tonight, it must have been a long trip."

You turn your head to thank Thatch for his efforts in greeting you, he might have spooked you a little but he seems like a good man at heart. However, he is already gone, seemingly vanished into thin-air.

"Tha--Huh...Well, he's peculiar..."
