This past week has been slow and torturous since your talk with Marco, you've no reason to doubt that these men are undoubtedly vampires after what you've seen but your naive brain still tries to debunk the facts, even given all the evidence.

Will I ever be able to process such a thing?

Their choice of drink catches your eye once again during dinner as Thatch lifts his glass of 'red wine' to his lips, your brows furrowing as you try to decipher whether it's truly alcohol or blood, not even taking into account that Sabo as sensed your tension and is now staring at you questionably.

Let's see...isn't blood thicker than wine? But in a wine glass, it's still not easy to tell the difference, there's simply too much there. It could look thicker when really, it's just a lot of wine in a single glass.

A quiet sigh escapes your lips as you drag your palm down your face, your eyes thoughtfully falling closed and your mind practically screaming at you to let it go.

However, you do just the opposite.

"Thatch?" Your call immediately being answered as the brunette's attention turns toward your small frame, he politely lowers the glass from his lips in order to engage in a proper conversation with you as he raises a brow, urging you to speak. "Do you make your own wine? You never seem to run out of it, yet I only ever see one bottle in the kitchen..."

Subtle does it!

You're studying his eyes discreetly, watching whether he looks away or not, trying to find the slightest hint of guilt in his features. Some people look guilty purely out of nerves, when they aren't but Thatch seems confident, you doubt that he has any problem looking somebody in the eye when he's being truthful.

"Hm." The brunette frowning a little in obvious confusion as his orbs trail down to his drink before finding their way back to your gaze, a slight flicker in his eyes as if he realizes something, you consider the possibility that he probably notices that he's being analyzed. "Yes. We brew it ourselves."

Oh, I'm sure you did!

"Really? I don't recall seeing any fruit patches outside..." You're discreetly trying to catch him out on his lie, or simply trying to reassure yourself that you were dreaming of the night you spoke to Marco and that these guys are completely normal, honestly you aren't too sure what's going on in your head right now at all.

The quick frown etched into Thatch's features doesn't go amiss before he tries to force back his confident stare, a small smile spreading hesitantly across his lips and Sabo now staring right at you with wide eyes.

"[F/n]..."

Poor Sabo doesn't even get a chance to speak further, Thatch straightening himself up professionally as the rest of the family struggle to enjoy their dinner. Ace looks far too interested in what's happening, still guzzling down his wine though. Marco's eyes looking as calm as always as he watches you in slight fascination, seemingly mashing his (already mashed) potatoes using his fork.

Why does it feel like the room has just gotten hotter?

"It's a secret recipe." Thatch explains coolly, his expression never changing as he scoops some food onto his fork and eats it with no trouble at all, not like his brothers.

However, you're like a dog with a bone, you're not letting this one go. "Oh? Do you have many secrets then?" Sabo letting out a grunt at your cheeky question and Ace chuckling softly, only being silenced when Thatch glances at him.

Does Thatch really carry so much power in this household?

"What ever do you mean, miss [F/n]?" Thatch questions calmly, clearly pretending that you're not getting under his skin right now and your eyes now find their way to Marco, almost asking him for permission to continue this discussion, of course he's got his usual devilish grin plastered across his face.

He really doesn't give a shit, does he?

"You'll have to excuse her, Thatch." Sabo butts in before you have the chance to press the topic some more, the brunette's eyes going from confident to curious as a subtle hum escapes his throat. "Sometimes she doesn't word things too well."

The fuck?! Boy, I know you didn't interrupt me and then have the audacity to speak as if I'm not even here! The cheek!

"It's quite alright, I'm not offended by--"

"I'm sorry, was I speaking to you?!" You blurt rudely, poor Thatch being cut off and completely pushed out of the conversation as your orbs lock with Sabo's, surely there must be a slight twitch of your brow as you try to internally calm yourself down.

He speaks as if I'm an insolent child!

It would seem that the stress has finally taken a toll on you, you're sharing a home with vampires, no matter how much you want to believe differently, they are in fact monsters. Something that should only be a myth.

Not to mention the fact that you sit with them every meal, watching them drink some poor bastard's blood and pretending that it's wine and that it's completely normal. It's just wrong.

"What on earth has gotten into you?!" Sabo defensively questions, you can faintly see Ace shaking as he tries to contain his laughter with both of his hands, you can't quite tell how Marco's looking but you can sure feel his gaze glued to you.

"Apparently, a pair of fangs!" Your voices raised as you pull your choker down a little to reveal the two markings, you immediately hear the clanking of cutlery as Thatch drops his knife and fork onto his near-empty plate in shock, Sabo looking completely mortified to say the least.

By this point even Ace has lost his confidence, the raven immediately seizing his laughter as he shrinks into his seat, seemingly trying to hide away. Sabo keeps his posture calm although you can see beads of sweat running down his face as he sighs.

"That could be any--"

"Marco already told me that you're all vampires so don't even try to make me sound crazy!" Suddenly the atmosphere darkens, Sabo's expression falling into shock as his eyes flicker towards his older brother, a faint slap-like noise catching your ear.

You assume for a moment that Thatch had hit the brother but upon taking a glance at the pair, you see that Marco's still harboring his usual mocking stare and his sly smirk but Thatch's face is buried deep into his palm, clearly the slapping sound was him...facepalming.

Ouch.

"Beating yourself up isn't very good for your pretty face yoi." You can't believe that Marco's being sarcastic, his voice is practically dripping with cockiness as he finishes off the last of the food that was served, honestly you hadn't even realized that he had continued eating.

Thatch's head raising from his palm as his eyes fall into a glare, although he's looking at nobody in particular, his shoulders tensed and his temple dampened by a sheet of sweat.

"Marco...outside. Now." Is all the brunette murmurs coldly, giving you a slight nod in attempts to be polite before excusing himself but you know all too well that he's livid. The two oldest brothers making their way out of the dining room and leaving you with the two younger brothers.

Ace suddenly looking a little worried as he eyeballs your neck, the raven soon rising to his feet and also excusing himself, leaving the room through a different door however.

What's with him?

"Why did you do that?!" Sabo snaps immediately, his voice is full of irritation but he's still trying to keep his noise down, his brows furrowed and his fists clenched. "I would've explained to you myself! You didn't need to--"

"Did you bite me?!" The aggressive question shutting the blonde up mid-sentence, his eyes filled with concern as his jaw twitches slightly. "Well?! If you're such a beacon of truth, tell me!"

I must be out of my mind arguing with a vampire like this...
