Schoolchildren Backpacks

Schoolchildren carry such a heavy burden on their backs
It is not the text books I speak of,
But the expectations packed into their backpacks,
They are unaware of.
The comparisons that their parents tuck into the folds of each pocket.
The grades, A through F
Flung at students
Who each need a different teaching style
But that us not taken into consideration when making schedules.
It's the weight of inequality
Hanging off their backs
Schoolchildren carry demons
Just not the ones you can see or feel
Unless you are them
Walking a mile in their ankle weights.
