Lizzy's Pov
I waited as the women in front of me ran her fingers through her hair, making the soft curls tangle gently around her fingers. The rocks crinkled between my toes as I suddenly became very self aware that I was not wearing shoes so I let my dress slip from my own fingertips to fall effortlessly around me once more.
"You were only a child, a baby. You're father and I thought you were safe in your crib." The lady started to pick explain, her voice shaky as she spoke. "With a the shatter of the window, we ran into the nursery to find that the crib was empty and you were no where in sight.
We searched for days, your father tiring himself more than myself. After a month and a half the police gave up on the case. But we never stop looking. And then I saw you in the paper, the article about the fire."To be honest my first thought when she said this was which one. But nevertheless, she seemed to smile but it was crinkled still with residue of sadness.
"But why would someone take me? I mean it just doesn't make sense. And how do you know that i'm this daughter that you are looking for?" I continued to ask questions. My feet tried to take a step forward but I forced then to remain planted where I was. Her story doesn't add up and there are several parts where it is loose and gaping. "I'm sorry, can I at least ask for your name?"
"I'm sorry." She quickly excused herself after she had realized that she had never given me her name. "Audrey. My name is Audrey. I don't exactly know why." Audrey began. "You have the an arrangement of freckles on the left of your jaw. Three exactly, in a line."
Okayyyy. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool.
So this is true.....
Audrey went to speak again before hearing the small patter of some rocks falling down a tunnel. Worry cast itself onto her face and she spoke quickly. "If you want to know more, please come back her tomorrow. " And with that she disappeared down another tunnel, leaving me alone with the slight sound of waves echoing around the room.
I turned around as I heard someone climb out of the tunnel.
Phillip. I let go of a breathe I didn't know I was holding and ran over to hug him.
"Are you okay?" He questioned, holding his hand out for me as he scanned over me to see if I had any cuts or bruises.
"I'm good, just slipped. Not hurt at all." I say back to him, I look back on the tunnel behind me, the one Audrey went through. I turn back to Phillip and give a smile. "I believe there is a wedding we should be at."
