For a moment, Dean thought the world had stilled. All he saw was Seamus, who had wrung his hands and was looking at the floor.
"Dean...do you feel the same way about me? I-it's fine if y-" he was cut off by Dean's hug, and if he was honest, Dean didn't know where that'd come from either, just that Seamus was crying, and now he was crying, and the day couldn't have changed more in a matter of a minute.
"Seamus, you have no idea how long I've wanted this." Dean couldn't contain the smile on his face, and let his excitement and joy bleed through, until Seamus looked almost drunk with happiness. "I'm so happy I'm with you again. Out on the road...it was hard. Then rumors of Hogwarts basically turning into a prison...I thought you were dead, Seamus, and it was unbearable."
"Hey, it's ok." Seamus whispered. "It got bad here, yeah, but they, uh, never killed us. It was always torture, or some other form of punishment, but they were trying to terrorize the parents and kids. I don't think they wanted us dead, because then they'd have angry parents to deal with. Death eaters thrive off of fear, not anger."
"That doesn't help me all that much." Dean sighed, his vision blurry, he felt as though he was shaking. "Hogwarts was supposed to be safe for people like you."
Seamus smirked, quirking his lips up a bit. "Nowhere is safe right now, Dean."
Dean placed a finger in Seamus' lips, effectively silencing him. "I don't want to talk about that any more. I want to talk about us."
Seamus' laughter made him jump. "You brought up the subject, don't make me the culprit of your crimes."
"Well, I just want to talk about my feelings a bit more." Dean awkwardly mumbled, just making Seamus chuckle harder before sobering up and placing a hand on Dean's shoulder.
"Really though, I've had a crush on you forever. Even if I don't know half of it, when you talk about football, or just something you love, there's this sparkle in your eye. It's always something I've loved about you. I see now when you look at me." Seamus cupped his face, bringing Dean to look at him. Dean couldn't help but notice his rosy cheeks and eyes bright as fire. They leant in, and Dean kept his eyes closed just in case it went wrong.
The moment their lips touched, he knew it. Perhaps the war had made him more hasty, but his feelings had developed. Day after day of almost dying...and Dean knew he didn't just like Seamus, or have a crush on him. He loved him. As they kissed slowly, languidly, his mind flashed to all the times he'd wanted to do this in the past.
The kissing was amazing, but eventually they both needed to breathe. Dean pulled away first, feeling flushed and satisfied. Seamus looked even more beautiful now, his cheeks flushed a deep red, and his lips a bit swollen from the prolonged kissing.
"That was...exquisite." Seamus leaned against Dean, sighing.
"Y-you're so beautiful Sea." He stammered out, hugging his...what was Seamus to him now? "Are we dating?" The insecure and immature question blurred out of his mouth.
"If you want to be." Another smirk, that was enough for Dean to blurt our a yes.
Merlin, how did I never realize how much I love Sea...I hope we aren't too late.
