"...And you're sure he's going to be out of town?" I asked Rachel. We were talking over the phone, why? Because this weekend, I'm surprising Reese in New York. Odd of me, I know, but I have a right to freak her out every now and again.
"Kurt and Blaine are in Lima all weekend, you have nothing to worry about. Reese is going to freak when she sees you here. And hey, I'm taking the weekened with my dads for some nice relaxing time in California, so you two have the entire place to yourselves." she said.
"Thanks Rach, I appreciate that." I said.
"Sure, but hey, don't do anything I wouldn't do. I don't want to come home and find out my BFF is pregnant with your kid." she warned.
"I swear on my life, that will not happen." I replied.
"It better not, or I'm going to be paying a little visit to you in your sleep. And when you wake the next morning, what you see won't be pretty." she said.
"Got it, I should be in Bushwick by five. What time are you leaving?"
"About twenty after, I'll give you in-and-outs about the apartment." all of the sudden, Hunter burst through the library doors.
"Right-thanks. Listen I got to go but I will call you when I'm on my way." after that, I hung up. Hunter gave me a strange look.
"What?" I asked.
"That was discreet. Who was that?" he asked.
"Nobody, just a friend. I'm driving up to DC over the weekend." I replied.
"Really? Whose the friend?" he asked.
"...Steve...Martin?" wow, what is wrong with me today..
"Steve Martin? The sixty something year old actor?" he asked, not believing my words.
"No. No that's just his name." I scoffed.
"I'm sure it is." intuition is telling me to pick up my bag, make a classroom excuse and steep slowly out of the room.
"Well, I will be sure to give a big 'Hello' to Steve from you, but I got to go to class. Until we meet again Clarington." I said.
"Oh yeah. Oh, and while you're hanging out with Steve Martin, tell Reese she has my regards." crap, busted.
"I don't want to talk about this. I'll see you next week." I said as I turned to leave.
"But I want to talk about this. You started seeing her again, behind my back!" he snapped.
"It's not like it's any of your business. You have your weekend pleasures, I have mine. See you next week." I tried to make my exit again, but he stopped me.
"Sebastian; you have been avoiding me ever since I got back from my suspension. And I have a hunch it has something to do with your feelings for that Wild Card. Let me ask you something; what would make an upper class man like you, want to do with a swimming little skank like herself. How much you want to bet, she's only in it for your money?" he asked.
"Excuse me? You better watch yourself Clarington, you're crossing into dangerous territory." I said.
"How? I'm only asking an innocent question." he replied.
"You're climbing, that's what you're doing. Now I got to go."
"Sebastian, I'm your friend, you can trust me. I know what I'm doing." he said.
"Yeah, and what you're doing, is trying to keep me apart from the woman I love." I told him.
"Reese is a woman? Really? She has the maturity span of a teenager." he replied.
"She's a whole lot smarter than you are, that's for sure." I said.
"But do you honestly and for truely think she really does love you? Are you positive about that?" he asked. If he was trying to provoke me, it was working.
"You think you're smart, don't you?" I asked him.
"Oh I know I am, graduated top of my class at Base North in England, first freshman to ever complete the Twenty-Nine second obstacle course of Pain in New Dehli, youngest to ever-"
"Kay, how about we just focus on the situation instead of your army related accomplishments. This is what's going to happen, I'm going to go spend a lovely weekend with my girlfriend, and I don't want to hear another negative word about her coming out of your big mouth." I said.
"I think you're afraid of something." he said.
"I'm afraid of what I'm going to do to you if you don't shut up!" I snapped back.
"I think you're feeling insecure because Reese's priority's in New York are taking over your life with her, which is why she doesn't want to be with you."
"What? I'm sorry, what'd you say?" I asked, ready to punch in his face. He looked nervous, I had two inches on him. Lucky for him though, he was saved by my phone ringing.
"What!?"
"Woah, easy big guy. You okay?" that was Rachel, probably wondering if I was alright after I hung up on her like that.
"Yeah I'm fine, what is it?" I asked.
"Alright so there's been a little change in plans, my dad booked the hotel suite wrong, then my other dad got mad and they had to do the entire reservation all over again, which means that by the time your train arrives in New York, I'm going to have to be on my way to JFK which means, I can't pick you up." she said. That's a problem.
"Okay, yeah that's fine. I'll just grab a taxi." I said.
"Are you sure? I mean I can book you an earlier train?" she suggested.
"No, no that's alright. I'll handle it. Thanks, see you later." I said as I hung up.
"Sounded important." Hunter said.
"Once again, it's none of your business. Now if this dumb conversation is over, I need to go pack for New York." and then I (hopefully for the last time) turned away for the door. I was two seconds away from freedom, before he called me back.
"I hope you know what you're doing, you're opening yourself up to a troublemaker." he said. Sighing, I turned back to him.
"Then I'm in love with a Troublemaker."
