Betrayed

(Book 1: no spoilers)

During the end of book 1, when Todd reaches Haven

(Requested) Todd×Reader

{The reader is from Far branch}

[Todd]

"C'mon (y/n)! We're almost there" I yell, running faster.

My lungs burning, my feet begging me to stop. But I couldn't,

They'd kill me,

They'd kill her.

"Todd" (y/n) called out, halting suddenly.

I stopped too, confused

"What? C'mon we can't stop now!"

She smiled.

Something that both scared and confused me.

"(Y/n)?" I called out, trying to understand what she was playing at "C'mon!"

"No" she calmly stated,

So calm that it scared me

"(Y/n) what's going on?  Are you tired? I'll carry you if I have to!"

We couldn't stop now, the mayor and his men were gaining on us,

I needed to get her out of this mess

I needed her to be safe

Just then, to make matters worse, Davy Prentiss Jr. Came out of the bushes.

"Well look what we have here" he smirked walking closer to (y/n)

"You stay away from her!" I yelled.

I thought she'd come over and stand next to me but she stayed there,

Smiling!

"What's going on?" I asked, my noise turning a shade of red.

"Good job (y/n)" Davy said smirking at (y/n),

My (y/n)

"Oh Todd" she spoke, venom in her voice "you really are naive"

She took a step closer to me

"I can't believe it! You let me tag along with you without any thought. Wow Todd, wow"

My head started to hurt.

"What did you think was going to happen?" She went on "we'd run to Haven? Start a fresh? Have a future together?"

"(Y/n)" I went on, catching on what was happening "please-"

"You really thought that kiss few nights ago meant something?"

She laughed, Davy joining in too.

"Oh Todd, sweet sweet Todd" she chuckled darkly "you have a lot to learn. Too bad you will never get a chance"
