"Where the bloody hell were you last night 'Mione?!" Ron exclaimed, throwing his arms up in the air holding fork in hand as The brunette swiftly sat down for breakfast
"I told you, I went to the Astronomy Tower last night" she said blankly, not even looking at the boy before her as she took a bite of her bacon. The crispy taste melting her mouth like butter
" you said you'd be back before curfew but we didn't see you again" the red headed boy huffed, crossing his arms in annoyance, eggs filling his cheeks making him look like a chipmunk
"Well I came back a bit later than I originally planned. Besides I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself, I didn't even come back that much later" Hermione quickly snapped back, putting her cutlery down rather violently as she downed some juice. As she slipped her gaze over the girl spotted her newly found, grey eyed, friend looking at her with a spot of curiosity. She just put her glass down gently shaking her head before smiling lightly, he just shrugged before he moved his gaze to Blaise hitting his arm
"Hermione?!" Harry stared at the girl as she shot him a confused look
"What?" She asked, not really looking at the raven haired boy opposite her
"I said your name at least 5 times. Who were you looking at? I saw you smiling at someone"
"I wasn't smiling" she snapped finally looking at the boy, glaring
"What's gotten into you today hermione? You're so defensive over everything we say or ask" Ron finally spoke up again
Rolling her eyes Hermione stood up and stormed out of the hall, rage filling her eyes as she left.
Back at the slytherin table
Draco saw this happen and hesitantly got up, alerting pansy and Blaise of his sudden movements they gave him questioning looks
"Where are you going" Pansy asked, looking up at the boy
"I just want to go get something from the dormitories before class" Draco quickly said, not really caring if they were to believe his lie or not. The blonde haired boy started to speed walk out of the chatter filled hall, hoping to find a certain hazel eyed girl during his walk.
After about two minutes of looking Draco was getting more and more anxious as class would be starting soon and he wanted to see Hermione, he hoped maybe they could walk to Potions together after finding out what made her storm out, suddenly a light cry could be heard to the left side of the boy and as he quickly ran over to the small sounds he found himself by a dusty,dirty stone staircase leading up to the Potions department, on the bottom step Hermione could be seen: head firmly placed in her hands, her shaking body moving in rhythm with her small cries. This scene was heartbreaking for Draco to see, his heart ached for her and he never wanted to see her cry. Especially alone.
He slowly moved over to place himself on the step next to Hermione, placing his arms gentle yet firmly around her protecting her from anymore harm that dared to come near. Hermione quickly tensed as she felt the persons protective arms around her and quickly looked up, red puffy eyes and stained cheeks exposed,to find it only to be Draco, her position softened as she grabbed onto his black soft shirt as she sobbed oceans around them.
"It's okay" the boy softly muttered into her ear, placing his firm chin atop her bushy haired head as he tightened his grip holding her closer, if even possible and stroked circles onto her back, relaxing her immensely.
"Draco?" Hermione quietly sniffled, looking up into his beautiful grey orbs as he looked down at her broken face,that's usually filled with joy and hope
"Yes Hermione?" He asked, seeing another sorrow filled tear roll halfway down her beautifully tanned face he slowly put his hand on her cheek and gently wiped it with his thumb. Leaving his warm hand there as she sniffled more and softly spoke
"Thank you"
"Don't thank me Hermione, I'll always be here for you"
She leaned into his hand more before hopefully asking
"Always?"
"Always" he confirmed, but before they could continue light footsteps could be heard in the far distance making their way towards the two
"Breakfast must be over" a look of disappointment made its way across Hermione's and Draco's faces as they hesitantly broke apart
and stood, Hermione wiping her eyes once more
"Walk with me?" Draco asked, a hopeful look in his eyes
"I can't, I have to go and find Harry and Ron and apologise. I feel awful and I don't want to wait until we're in class" She softly said, a guilty feeling in her stomach as she saw disappointment once more in his eyes
"But I'll talk to you later, I promise" Hermione quickly added, blushing as she kissed his cheek before quickly rushing to find her friends. Draco, shocked, was smiling like mad as he lifted a hand to feel where she kissed his cheek, two fingers lightly placed where her soft lips once were.
