Chapter 41: Tough Choices

Ralph's POV

Nagulat ako nung biglang bumukas ang pinto. My brows furrowed when I saw Leo.

"I told you I don't wanna be disturbed."

"Pasensya na, Sir. May tumawag po kasi from the—"

"I told you I am not taking any calls and appointments. I will only answer it if it's Geneva or my mom."

"Pero, Sir, tungkol ko pito kay Ma'am Gen." He looked so worried.

Napakunot ang noo ko. If it's about her, why didn't she call me herself? Sabi ko naman sa kanya my phone rings only when it's her.

"What about her?"

"Tumawag po ang nurse mula sa St. Lukes Hospital. Nasa emergency room daw po si Ma'am Geneva."

My heart skipped. "I'll take the call."

Mabilis kong kinuha ang phone na nasa desk ko, and I answered, "This is Ralph Tan speaking."

"Mr. Tan, this is a nurse from St Lukes, and I want to inform you, Sir that your wife is in critical condition. We need you to be here right away for your consent before performing any procedures—"

"I'll be there," I quickly answered and hung up the phone. Mabilis ang mga hakbang ko palabas ng building and drove the car. The moment I heard her say that my wife is in critical condition, kinabahan ako agad. My first instinct is that I need to be there. Right away.

Ngayon lang ako kinabahan nang sobra. I was praying while driving dahil hindi ko alam ano ang condition ni Gen. I hate to admit it but I am so scared. Binilisan ko hanggang sa makarating ako ng hospital. I didn't even bother to park my car straight dahil nagmamadali alo. I went straight to the emergency room.

"Where's Geneva Tan?" mabilis na sabi ko.

Tinuro ng nurse ang silid kung nasaan ang asawa ko. I quickly ran inside at doon bumagsak ang mga luha ko at lakas ko nung makita ko ang kalagayan niya. There are a lot of tubes attached to her. Her dress has stains of blood.

"Geneva..."' iyak ko sabay lapit sa kanya. No. This is not happening. She's unconscious and bleeding for Pete's sake!

"Kayo po ba ang asawa, Sir?" A nurse came.

"Yes. Why is she like this? What happened? What's her condition? Please tell me!" I have gone hysterical cause you know the feeling when you don't know anything about what's happening. It hurts seeing the love of my life like this. I felt like I was stabbed a million times!

"Sir, naaksidente po ang asawa niyo."

"Please save her. Save my wife. Let me talk to the doctor!"

The nurse called the doctor at agad itong dumating. "Mr. Tan, good thing you're already here."

"Doc, save my wife. Please save my wife and my baby. I can't lose them. Please!" I cried. Wala na akong pakialam if I looked crazy. Nothing is worse than being in this situation.

"We are doing everything to save your wife. We gave her oxygen cause she was unconscious when she got here. Madami ring nawalang dugo sa kanya. We needed to give her blood right away. Type O positive ang asawa niyo kaya maswerte siya madami tayo n'on cause it's the most common type of blood dito sa Pinas."

"How is she now?"

"She's still unconscious, and we are not yet sure how severe her problem is," sabi niya saka siya tinawag ng nurse. "If you can just wait here, Mr. Tan. I need to go back inside."
