"Daphnie Stefani, aged forty-seven." Levi's sharp gaze stayed pinned to the young woman who stared back at him with a look of utter disbelief.  "Found dismembered with bloody chunks of her body scattered across the lawn on 708 Baker Street, 1:43 am."

Aria blinked her eyes a few times, resulting in large tears immediately rolling down her eyes.  The rain continued to pound down onto the roof of the car, a sudden crack of thunder rolling throughout the entire city.  The girl flinched, jumping and clinging onto Levi's arm, leaning across the central console to reach the man's body.  She stayed there for a second, dazed and staring into some alien world with wide, tearful hazel eyes.  It wasn't long until her lips curled down into a shaky frown, burying her face into Levi's sleeve to weep heavily.  Her shoulders sagged down like she was carrying some hefty load on top of them, her face scrunched up in agony as she cried.

Levi stared down at the girl in surprise, completely taken aback by the sudden action.  The girl continued to weep upon his arm, Levi sitting there in the driver's seat completely appalled by such happenings.  He just didn't know what to do.  Hell, he didn't even know how to react to this shit.

Levi lifted up his left hand slowly, hesitant but somewhat initiative, and patted the girl softly on the head in sort of an awkward way.

"Miss Stefani," Levi said bluntly, mumbling a little.  The woman continued to cry.  "Miss Stefani."

Aria raised her head a little, still rubbing her cheek against his sleeve.  She sniffled.

"I-I'm sorry, Mr. Ackerman..." she started, choking on her own breath.  "I-it's just...my mother..."

"I understand," Levi sighed, rubbing his eyes with his fingers.  "My mother is dead, too."

The comment caught Aria's attention, the girl suddenly lifting her head up with a pitiful sparkle in her hazel eyes, along with some smeared mascara encircling them.

"So...you were left alone too?"

The detective scoffed, turning his head away from her coldly.

"I've been alone," he said simply.  "And I'll always be alone."

"But Mr. Ackerman," the intern piped up, sniffling her nose once again and realigning her glasses.  She sat back up, wiping under her eyes with her fingers, smearing the black makeup even more.  "A man like you can't be lonesome for long; you must have had some girlfriends in the past."

The statement puzzled the man.

"What does that have to do with anything?" he snapped.

The young woman cleared her throat.

"Well, you must have had some sort of escapism besides smoking and drinking," Aria hiccuped, reaching into her moist blazer for a pack of tissues and a mirror compact.  "Besides, you're not a bad looking man; how many girlfriends have you had in the past, sir?"

Levi shook his head violently from side to side, staring in disbelief at the young woman, opening up her compact to clean up her face.

"Th-that has none of your concern, Stefani!" Levi snarled.  "And what the hell does this have to do with anything at all?  First you're crying your fucking eyes out, and now you're asking me about my private life?  What the hell is wrong with you?!"

The young woman swiped a tissue delicately under her reddened eyes, sniffing her nose again as she turned her head from one side to the other, examining her face from every angle.  Once satisfied with her work, she snapped the compact shut and turned to Levi, speaking with a slightly strangled tone.
