The Czechs would not emerge from their Dark Age for more than a century. They had lost most of their native aristocracy and nobility and been forced to accept the religion of the Hapsburgs. But through centuries of foreign occupation, the Czechs managed to keep their language and culture alive enough to regenerate, and today Brno is a vibrant Czech-speaking city.
The Palace of Noble Ladies still stands today. It was damaged during World War II, but was renovated during the 1950s. Today it serves as a children's museum, and you can visit this historic building.
