Quix sat down on a seat on the verandah and gazed out at the city, it looked so clean and shiny, the sun glittered along the walls and one way windows, Tax was placing his clothes and anything else he had brought into the drawers and cupboard and out of his suitcase, he gently removed Goldie's bag so as not to wake her and he was successful, he carried it to the pet room, and emptied it of its contents, a few clothes and shoes, the teddy they got her for Christmas was stuffed in there somehow and the damaged toy bird, with a sigh he placed them all into a hidden compartment in the wall, the opening drawer took Rebel by surprise, he had been watching suspiciously from the corner of the room and then dashed off.
Rebel walked onto the verandah, he gazed at it all, he trooped towards the fly wire material and nervously looked around, he was beginning to trust Quix, and as Quix leant over and tussled the humans hair, instead of freaking out, Rebel merely looked up and gave Quix a smile, the trust wasn't fully established, but Rebel was smart enough to know Quix wouldn't hurt him, but Tax was someone he feared.
Echo had dozed off on the fake grass and Quix picked him up to move him into the pet room, he wasn't sure whether humans were allowed to sleep on his or Tax's beds, he tucked Echo into the bottom bunk, and then he got to unpacking his own stuff, Tax had finished unpacking the humans backpacks, he examined Rebel's bigger bag, it fitted a chain, arm confines, his hobbles, muzzle, and some clothes and shoes, even a single collar, humans wore harness collars as a way to protect their necks from being pulled and pull them safely by their whole upper body, a collar was used as a control device, it prevented them from pulling on leads, the difference between Echo's and Goldie's collars were that they were made to connect with their harnesses, as the collars by themselves merely acted as signs to say this human has an owner and isn't a stray, those didn't have a ring to connect a leash to, Rebel's did.
Tax headed out of the room, he held a pile of human clothes and was deciding whether to tell Quix to put on Rebels collar or just go and ask the desk if they had a laundry area, he glanced at Rebel who was in his harness collar, which Quix had so far always had on him, but being off the road and out of Doll village Tax thought it wise to use the collar because Rebel still needed to learn to behave, and now he wouldn't be confined to the carriage like usual. Sighing, Tax placed the clothes onto the couch and grabbed the collar, he approached Rebel who still stood, watching the city, flying vehicles hovered over roads, and various strange aliens wondered the streets, he heard a ting noise from behind him, it was the collars connecting ring tapping the buckle of the collar, looking back he saw Tax, his eyes widened in fear, he prepared to dodge away, "hey!" Exclaimed Tax as Rebel tried to dodge away from him sideways, Tax easily caught the humans arm, Rebel babbled, he was absolutely terrified and he fought the urge to fight off Tax, he didn't want to be hit again.
Quix rushed out of his room, he watched Tax who was telling Rebel to chill, "hey, what's going on?" Asked Quix, "I'm trying to put his collar on!" Groaned Tax, "that one... Ugh I'll do it if he needs it, but just let the poor thing go" mumbled Quix, Tax released Rebel who dashed off and hid behind Quix, Tax just walked towards the pile of clothes, "their winter bed wear are in the pet room, its going to snow tonight" stated Tax, he picked up the small pile and headed out of the room.
Quix went ahead and removed everyone's harnesses, he managed to not wake Goldy but Echo immediately sat up, Quix patted Echo's head and undid the few straps that held everything together, and removed it from the harness collar, he chose to do Rebel last so the teen could relax, he made sure to remove the harness collar from the teen who stubbornly sat in his room, Quix managed to place on the collar without any hassle, being excited by this improvement, Quix hugged the teen who struggled in the happy hug, before accepting it.
Tax travelled back down the elevator, this time prepared for the dizzy feeling, he talked to the insect lady, who sat at the desk and carefully going through various electronic papers, Tax asked her for the laundry room, she helpfully passed him an electronic paper with a map, the device was similar to a tablet but was paper thin and you were able to zoom in and out of the image that's permanently displayed, Tax pressed the room titled 'laundry' and followed the red line that appeared on the map, it took him to a large room with one wall having washing machines and dryers and the other side had seats and two vending machines, one which had pet snacks and the other having normal snacks, he approached the washing machines and found that they only required guests to swipe their cards. Once Tax had turned on the washing machine, he walked over to the vending machines, the human row having chocolates, lollies and chips, he swiped the card and told the machine to give him row five numbers one and three, he picked up the chocolate bar and bag of gummy lollies, and then he moved to the other machine, the lowest two rows were for employee aliens, he decided to get himself some chocolate and peanuts, the chocolate was not safe for pet consumption.
Tax reentered the room, Quix was sitting on the couch with Rebel cuddled up beside him, Tax carefully lugged the clean human wear into the pet room, Echo was cuddled up in his fluffy pajamas, the blanket wrapping him up snugly, Tax smiled softly and walked out of the room, Rebel's eyes followed the werewolf suspiciously, Tax tossed Quix the non pet safe chocolate before walking up to them trying to offer Rebel the human chocolate in a way to apologise, giving up Tax passed it to Quix who peeled the decomposable wrapper and gave it to Rebel who suspiciously bit into it and grinned, he ate it while watching Tax who sat beside Quix and turned the TV on, after the sun set an hour later they decided to go to dinner.
They woke up Goldy and brought her into the pet room, they filled up the water tray/tub and Quix led Rebel into the room and shut the door, they made sure to close the sliding door before the main room became any colder and followed the map to the dining area, they needed to swipe their card and then a menu popped out of a machine, they read through it carefully, the dining area was warmly lit and had tables of varying sizes and varying amounts of chairs, a few people were in here, but they didn't seem to care much for the newcomers, having chosen a meal they spoke the number the meals they wanted to the machine, it gave them a card which they would place into a slot on a chosen table, the meals would arrive there, while they waited they looked around for a place to get pet food, there was a smaller machine near a small employee hallway, they swiped their card and ordered 3 human meals, they didn't decide what the meal would be, the meals are preset and change at different times of the day.
They returned to their room and placed the food which was kept warm inside of bags onto the trays that were screwed onto the walls, Echo walked over to one and picked up a pea, he looked at Tax and Quix waiting for an eating utensil, Rebel and Goldy were quick to eat the vegetables and schnitzels, the meat was pre cut, "sorry Echo, you need to eat it like dry food" apologised Tax, Quix was chuckling quietly, Echo huffed and vaguely understood the word dry food, so he ate it with his hands.
The night had been hard, with Goldy knocking on the bedroom doors, wanting to sleep with one of them, but they were to worried that they would be breaking some kind rule in this clean and impressive place, they woke up to the sun shining through their one way windows, they started their day by excitedly going for breakfast, bringing up breakfast for the humans and getting changed into warm clothes, they changed the humans into more daily wear and attached harnesses, in Rebels case they just connected a leash to his collar, this confused Rebel.
The city was amazing, even from ground level, the snow clung to the buildings but somehow the roads and paths remained snow free, ground vehicles and air vehicles were already filling the streets, aliens walked along, some had pets, one had a dog, another a strange alien bird, then there were the humans, it was interesting seeing this for two people who had never met half of these species of aliens, "you really should have more restraints on him" said Tax, he eyed Rebel who was curiously touching his collar, "let's just use this as a test ok" whined Quix as he gazed around, "besides, I really want to look around, I don't have time to strap my poor human up" said Quix, Tax groaned about thinking ahead, Echo happily kept his distance, while Goldy was already trying to make friends with the aliens, some patted her head, other avoided her like they were allergic or something and others were just in to much of a hurry to stick around, a store nearby had a sign which read 'bits and pieces', they decided that would be their first stop.
