A/N: I always thought the way of portraying Sigyn in a story isn't about how you make her suddenly find Loki attractive but by the slow development and change in her. The Sigyn we all met in Chapter 1 of Disfigured Beauty is different than the one we see now. She has lost much and is afraid to lose more. She is a skilled rider, a much better healer and we are beginning to see that she has little regard or care for what Odin wants her to do. It's been a long and emotional (sometimes over emotional) journey for her and I'm sad to say that there is still more that will change her. I believe in a fic that has several parts or is so large such as mine, it's hard to see a characters ideals change until it is all over.

That being said, I'm sure you all noticed the change in both Loki and her and how they interact. I can assure you it will continue to be a stark difference than what we saw in their relationship before. We only saw a peek into one of their arguments, but the argument from last chapter and the ones to follow will show you just how broken and how well they hide their emotions from each other. So while you are filled with fluffy feels of them being together, I will be throwing in reminders of how utterly destroyed they are. YAY! This is a considerably long chapter, most of them are from now on. (Oh and check out da music!) As always, enjoy :)

P.S: I have received several requests to read/provide feedback on books. I am more than happy to do it and have added said books to my library. I will get to it as soon as I can, I promise!

Sigyn awoke at her usual time, the sun just peeking underneath the curtains of the bedroom. Frantically, her eyes flickered over to where Loki had been sitting when she fell asleep; he wasn’t there.

Her throat began to feel tight and her chest beat irregularly. Had it all been a dream? Had he even been there? Why had it been so real? It had to be real, she was washed up and wearing a new dress from yesterday, specifically her evening gown. Sitting up, she saw the room was empty, perhaps Loki had gone to wash up or for a stroll or something; she wouldn’t lose hope. Her mind pounded as questions and thoughts raced through mind.

That’s when a knock at the door came, revealing Eméra, Eir and Skrímsli. Attempting to compose herself, she watched as Eméra began to clean up the room, some clothes strewn across the room and some things that needed to be dusted. Eir smiled and moved towards Sigyn, motioning her to lie down while Skrímsli stood a few feet behind her.

“Everything seems to be normal. How are you feeling?”

“Well.” Sigyn’s voice croaked unintentionally, to which she saw Skrímsli smirk, but it was not the guard’s smirk that she saw; it was Loki’s.

Her eyes grew wide as she connected the dots. That bastard had been alive and within the palace watching her every move. In five minutes when Eméra finished cleaning up and Eir finished checking her vitals, he was dead. Skrímsli-Loki held her gaze grinning from ear to ear at the permanent scowl written across her face.

“Is something wrong my dear?” Eir asked, noticing Sigyn’s scowl.

“No, no. It’s just… Do you believe that the All-Father would be willing to let me go and visit my village? I haven’t been home in months and I do miss it so.” She hurried to divert her attention from Skrímsli.

“Hmmm,” Eir looked thoughtfully at the blonde maiden, pondering over her request. “I do not believe it would be unreasonable to ask. The All-Father may be willing now more than ever to allow you to visit for a few days. I will oversee your duties while you are gone.”
