Kabanata 27: Stranger

MY baggage are now in the compartment of my mother's red SUV. Nang madischarge ako sa ospital ay nagpaghinga muna kami sa suite na pag-aari ng mama ko. At ngayon nga ay kinuha na namin ang natitirang gamit ko mula sa suite namin ni Storm.

"Bid your goodbyes to them." She tapped my shoulder. Pinagbuksan siya ng driver namin at naupo sa backseat.

Lumapit ako sa kanila at nagsimula silang  isa-isang yakapin except Storm. Veroul's shoulder shaken like her mother's. A day ago after I was discharged from the hospital, she kept on calling me and visiting me in my mother's suite. Trying to convince me and especially mom but she failed big time. My mama is very disappointed yet she didn't had any grudge at them.

"See you soon Mama, Veroul and Dad." I said instead, not wanting to say goodbye.

"We'll pay you a visit once the issue is resolved." Veroul remarked.

Tumango ako sa kaniya at muling ngumiti. I never heard anything from the competition. Ang huling balita sa TV ay nahinto ito at under investigation. Ang pangalan ko ay nasa pahinga ng iba't-ibang fashion magazines. Trending ang nangyaring insidente sa competition. Marahan akong lumapit kay Storm. I held his hand and squeezed it lightly.

"Hey," untag ko.

He lifted his face and pushed a wry smile. "Hey baby." He managed to say.

"I'll be gone for a while. Take a good care of yourself." I hugged him and wrapped my arms in his back.

"Do you really need to go?" His voice broke. Napapikit ako. I hate him seeing this way. My ruthless Storm disappeared.

A nod is all that I could answer him.

"Aren't you safe in my arms?" He asked again only that this time he's slowly letting go of his emotion. I heard him sobbed, an indication that he just cried.

"We need this." I caressed his face, making him feel that I will always love him. "For the baby,"

His dark expression lightened when he heard the word baby. Maybe he was acting so fed up because personally he does't want me away from him. Iyong baby lang, kailangan ng proteksiyon ng bata mula sa lugar na ito. I don't want him or her growing up in the society full of envious and greedy people.

"Aayusin lang namin ang kaso na 'to baby. We'll go after you, me and my family will bring you back." His voice thickened for a moment.

I nodded at him and kissed his tears away. We whispered sweet words until it's time for me to go. Muling lumabas mula sa SUV si mama at tinawag ako ng hindi ako natinag ng aming driver.

"Theia! Gagabihin tayo sa daan." She said softly, looking at me with mixed emotion like she wanted me to stay but knows I need to go.

"See you when I see you." I looked at them for the last time. Veroul's couldn't stop herself anymore and she was shamelessly whining like a kid while she clung to her mother's arm. Mama Pris is crying too and Dad Verdict's face is very sad. I took one last glance at my love and he's not looking at me.

I smiled sadly. If he really wants me he'll go after me. I'll be waiting for him. He will go and get me. I'm sure he will.

Naupo din ako sa backseat at inayos na ang seatbelt. Ilang minuto pa ay umaandar na ang sasakyan namin patungo sa expressway. A long ride is definitely quite boring. The whole ride is fast. Nasa expressway na kami after 3 hours.
