"thank you, that uh means a lot." y/n said. her lips curving into a soft smile. "just don't worry about it, i kinda did the same thing with finn." she said reassuring him.

jaeden nod his head before his blue eyes looked at the ceiling, his hands placed on his stomach as he did so. y/n thought he looked like snow white waiting for her kiss, causing her to snicker. "what's so funny?" he asked, his gaze shifting towards her. a smile plastered on his lips.

"it's just that you look like you're waiting for prince charming to kiss you." she said shaking her head, a laugh coming out of her lips.

jaeden didn't know why but he loved that sound. the sound of her laugh. she looks like a girl that doesn't laugh so much because of her environment, so hearing that made him feel warm. he started laughing as well. "hey i think he's late for my kiss, is he in the hallway?" he asked, still going about him being snow white.

y/n opened the door and looked to "see" if prince charming is coming. waiting for a few seconds, she closed the door and turn around towards jaeden. "nope, sorry princess he ain't here."

jaeden lips turned to a frown. "damn i was really hoping for that kiss." he said, though seconds laughter started snickering again.

"yeah i uh should get going," y/n said breaking the laughter between them. jaeden sat up quickly. a part of him didn't want her to go, he was really starting to enjoy her company. she wasn't so bad after all.

"or maybe you can stay here and we can talk for a bit." he suggested. his eyes landing everywhere but her. he wanted to hear her laugh that made him feel warm for no reason, and he wanted to get to know the girl he almost shot. "why did you even come in this room?" he asked minutes later once y/n decided to sit down on the other bed. jaeden slowly laid back on the bed, his blue eyes looking over at the girl.

"it used to be the room of a girl i was close to. coming here always made me feel better." she explained shrugging her shoulders and shaking her head softly. "it's a bit dumb, i know."

"no. not at all. i would probably do the same thing, but we just move around a lot. i haven't had a permanent home since the apocalypse started." the brunette said, trying his best to reassure her. "it's just your way of coping."

y/n nodded, her e/c colored eyes looking down at the wooden floor. "thanks for not thinking it's dumb." she spoke softly, smiling a little to herself. she appreciated the fact that he didn't tease her about it, she already hears enough shit from her brother about it.

"yeah no problem, now you ask me a question." jaeden replied, smiling softly at the girl. trying to make her comfortable around him. he doesn't know why he felt the need to do this. it was just something about her.

"how many places have you stayed in?" she asked him. knocking the boots on her feet off so the girl can get more comfortable. bringing her knees to her chest, she titled her head to the right slightly. a habit of her's.

"ugh way too much to count, maybe uh thirty places? it feels about right." he said, causing the girl to widen her eyes. "damn! thirty different places?" y/n questioned.

"yeah, you know the motel across the street from that seven eleven." he paused waiting for at least a nod from her, and when he received just that he continued. "well we've been staying there for like a two weeks. and five days prior i got this beaut." he said, making jazz hands towards his messed up leg.

"oh how do you feel?" she questioned, her e/c eyes looking over at his leg. the wound was pretty brutal, the guy sure didn't show any remorse when he did that to him.

"hey you can't ask two questions in a row, but since you asked i'll answer. it alright still not great though." jaeden shrugged. "it'll be fine though, i'll probably heal soon because of you guys. but don't worry we'll leave tomorrow like promised." he said, slowly turning into a ramble.

"thinking about it now, i don't think that's the smartest idea. i mean your leg can get completely fucked if something else happens." y/n responded. a small part of her also wished he stayed because he wasn't so bad. he seemed like a pretty nice person, and she understood why he felt no hesitation on shooting her. y/n would of done the same if anyone threatened to shoot her friends.

jaeden smiled softly before his eyes trailed off of the girl. it felt nice to hear her say that. he didn't want to leave either, and hearing the girl who had no interest of him coming here say that felt lovely. "how were you like before this?" he asked the girl, causing y/n to tap her chin. how was she like? it's been so long since she ever thought about the old y/n. the old y/n that was too socially awkward to talk to some of the kids here when she first arrived.

"is it bad that i don't remember much of the old me? i buried that shit deep in my brain because i'd rather not think about it. but damn all i wish i did was appreciate my childhood more." she explained to him, shrugging her shoulders in the process. "but how about you?"

"i was a total dork when i was younger, very much into musicals and acting too. i even got into a few commercials around my town. but just like you said, i wished i appreciated everything." he replied. jaeden's blue eyes looking over at the wooden desk near his bed, it looked old...obviously. it seemed to collect dust as well as no one has really been in this room for awhile. "i miss my mom." he said softly. though speaking aoftly, just thinking about his mother's brutal death had made his voice crack due to all the emotions he's experiencing.

y/n looked at the boy in front of her, her e/c eyes gleamed with sadness. her and her mother didn't have the best relationship, however she knows the hurt he's experiencing at the moment. "i miss my dad." she replied back. her dad was such a good man. after her mother left the house to move in with her new boyfriend, her dad had always tried his best for y/n and julius to have the best life. and that's what made his death even harder for her.

sighing, y/n started to lay down on the bed. no longer sitting down with her legs towards her chest. the girl grew tired, and her eyes felt heavy. "goodnight." jaeden said softly before he too grew tired as well. "hmm." the girl hummed in response before her e/c eyes closed and all she saw was darkness.
