Firstly, tap the "@" symbol.
Something like the picture above will appear.

Secondly, type in your friend's username. Just leave it like that and don't do anything or you'll have to repeat the step again.

Finally, tap on their profile and once you tap on their username, it would appear in a grey background(or any other colours) like the picture above.
