Amara creeped through the outland territory, careful not to alert any lions that might be in the area of her presence. Sometimes she would hear a rustling in the bushes and get startled, only to find that it was a small rodent ruffling the dry, thirsty grass.
"Hi!" A squeaky voice sounded behind Amara. The young lioness whirled around to see who had addressed her, her claws unsheathed and her teeth bared, ready to defend herself against a hostile lion. She was relieved to find that the voice did not belong to a hostile outsider lion, but a cub that had dusty fur and a stripe across her forehead.
"Um, hi?" Amara squeaked nervously. She was unsure of whether or not she could trust this cub. The cub hadn't jumped on her back, digging her claws into Amara's fur in a rush of fury and hatred yet, she didn't seem inclined to, but you could never tell.
"I haven't seen you before" the cub noted, giving Amara a good sniff.
"You're not from here, are you?" She inquired, but more out of curiosity then skepticism.
"I'm from the pride-lands..." Amara whispered nervously, wishing that was where she was at the moment. "Oh look at the sun! I should be going home now!"
"No, wait!" The cub called as Amara tried to shoulder her way past "I'm not going to hurt you, and I won't tell anyone I saw you here!"
"Do you promise?" The cub nodded.
"My name is Zira." she said "what's yours?"
"Amara."
"Wanna play?"
"Sure, I guess," Amara said, still a little dumbfounded that an enemy lion wasn't attacking her. As the two cubs play fought for a good while, scrabbling in the dust, pinning each other down and scraping harmlessly at each other's fur, Amara grew used to the fact that this cub was not as hostile as her father had made out her kind to be.
"That was fun!" Amara giggled, getting to her feet.
"Yeah!" Zira agreed enthusiastically, a toothy grin spreading across her face. "We should play more often!"
"Yeah!" Amara agreed, "I should get going now, though, or my parents will wonder where I've been."
"Aaw okay..." Zira whined, sitting down and waving her tail in the air. "we should meet again tomorrow!"
"Yeah!" Amara agreed "Same time same place?"
"Sounds like a plan!"
"Ok, see you tomorrow, Zira!"
"See you tomorrow!"

When Amara got back to the pridelands, she went straight to the watering hole to wash off any dust from the outlands that might still be clinging to her fur.
