When I woke up, Steve was gone. I couldn't deny it hurt but maybe he was just overwhelmed. I was worried I might have taken a little advantage of him last night when he was so vulnerable. It was a hard time for him and I didn't wanna make it any harder. So I decided to look for him so we could talk.
After a while I found him in the nursery. James was awake and the two of them shared a very tight and seemingly intense hug. I felt a little sting in my stomach that I couldn't quite explain. They were only best friends after all and I was glad they were so close. I knew Steve was struggling and the more people he had by his side the better. But a tiny part of me didn't like the picture of those two attractive men engaging in an intimate hug not taking notice of their surroundings. But I didn't want to be a killjoy and left the two alone. In the hallway I almost bumped into Tony who was on his way to check in on James.

When I entered Bucky's room I saw him and Steve together. It was a very idyllic picture and the first thing that crossed my mind was that I had always had a feeling they felt a little more for each other than brotherly love. And I could only encourage that. They looked happy when they were around each other and I wanted my friends to be happy.
I cleared my throat. They turned towards me and let go of each other while I wondered how long they had sat like that. "Hey, Tony. What are you doing here?", Steve asked and I couldn't help but feel like an intruder. "I just wanted to check up on how you were. Someone came by the lab and told me you were awake.", I answered. "Oh, of course. I'm good. Thanks. And thank you for working on the arm. I really appreciate it." Steve's and my heads rapidly turned towards him. "How did you know about that?", was the first thing Steve said. "When I was in the coma there were times when I heard everything that was going on around me. I heard you talk after they brought me in here. About how Steve felt responsible and that you had an idea on how to fix my arm. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I couldn't exactly leave either. There's not much to do when you're unable to move." "I'm sorry. Believe me Bucky, I really am.", Steve instantly replied looking like a puppy that got caught stealing treats. It was quite cute, really. And I could see Bucky thought so too. The subtle smile that took over his face showed nothing but love and admiration. "You have to stop apologizing. It wasn't your fault. I'd risk my life any time to help you. You would do it for me so that's only fair. Stop being sorry, Stevy. I'm always gonna love you, no matter what.", he paused but quickly added. "You will always be my friend." I was almost certain he didn't want to add that and that he meant what he said before. He loved Steve.
