I've always thought that this statement was said out of distrust. But I don't think so anymore. If one keeps their enemies close they are forced to be close with them too. No sooner will they realise that they are just the same and are no more corrupt and despicable than they are. Hatred is not worth housing in ones heart, because in the end, the only person they will hate is themselves.
