A few days later Jac received a text from Emma's school just as they were about to leave to say that the boiler was broken and therefore school was closed
"Great now what am I supposed to do?"
Jac decided to ring the hospital crèche who luckily agreed to take her for the day
"Hey baby how would you like to spend the day playing with Theo?"
"Yes please Mummy" said the little girl jumping up and down with excitement.
"Come on then get your coat" Jac smiled
They arrived just as Fletch was leaving
"Morning. Now what are you two beautiful ladies doing here"
"I'm going to play with Theo all day Fletch" Emma said running off
Fletch raised a questioning eyebrow to Jac
"School boiler broke so no school and crèche said they'd have her for the day. I'll just sign her in and I'll walk up with you"
"I'm not going to be around much today on Darwin" Fletch said as they walked along
"Oh? Got a woman on another ward?"
He chuckled "Ah well I was going to tell you - it's scary sue from ITU"
Jac gave a proper belly laugh "oh well no competition. I've well and truly lost you"
He briefly put his arm round her shoulder
"Sorry to say but yeah you're right. What would I be doing with you when I could have her?"
He kissed her temple
"Ok so why are you really not around?"
"Nursing and midwifery council rep spending the day. So meetings, going through training etc. Very dull. Would much rather be in theatre with the woman I love"
"Sue works in theatre now?" She joked
"Idiot. I'll try and call up to see you later sweetheart ok"
He went into his office to get some papers. She followed him in
"Forgetting something Mr Fletcher?"
She stood with her lips puckered ready for a kiss
He laughed "I'm sorry Ms Naylor" and met her lips with his own and kissed her deeply
"See you later"
"Bye" she said watching him walk away with a stupid grin on her face

Later Jac was struggling with a spreadsheet when Frieda knocked on her door
"Yes?" She said irritably
Frieda entered looking even paler than normal
"What's wrong?"
"Jac, Hanssen just called. The hospital is on lockdown. There was a stabbing in the ED and the knifeman came into the main hospital. The place is crawling with police"
The colour drained from Jac's face. Lock down, Memories of the shooting came flooding back. Jac felt like she couldn't breathe
"What's the plan?" She finally managed to ask Frieda
"Well all the patients are pretty stable. I am going to try to move everyone to one end. Are you up to helping?" Frieda was acutely aware that this situation would be hard for Jac after what she had been through
"I'm Er no of course . Let's move them"
Jac tried to ring Fletch but it went to voicemail The crèche weren't answering either
She switched into ice queen mode and went out onto the ward
