Sophia woke up to the sound of David vomiting in the bathroom. She was really mad at him, but she couldn't just lay there while he wasn't in the right state of mind. She knocked lightly on the door before openeing it slightly and sticking her head in.

"You okay?"

"Yeah." He coughed, a leg on either side of the toilet. He groaned, resting his head on the wall next to him.

Sophia stepped carefully around him before sitting down on the opposite side of the bathroom floor.

"Go back to sleep."

"I'm already up. Might as well make sure you don't choke."

"You shouldn't be this nice to me"

"I know." Sophia nodded, crossing her arms.

"Jason went to go find me after he put the kids to bed. He told me you spent it with them. You should've been with me." He slurred, leaning over the toilet and moaning in pain.

"We're pausing this argument until you're completely sober. Call me if you need me, Dobrik." Sophia huffed, standing up and walking out of the bathroom.

She made her way onto the balcony, wrapping her arms around herself as she looked out onto the beach. The waves crashed against the sand, Sophia staring blankly as she tried to gather her thoughts. David didn't know about the guy that had grabbed her, but she had explained to him how anxious she was feeling. He just invalidated her concerns and was extremely dismissive.

Sophia hated picking fights with David. He had a lot on his plate and she never wanted to cause him more unnecessary stress, so she constantly bit her tongue. She would let the little things that bothered her go for the sake of not overwhelming him. Aside from their fake arguments about what food to order, they really didn't fight. But she knew that this was a fight they had to have. He had treated her unfairly and she deserved better than that. They needed to talk things through. David passed out on the bathroom floor, and Sophia fell asleep to the sound of the ocean.

David's hangover lasted half the day, and he didn't move from the bed until the afternoon. Sophia had left their room early that morning and took the opportunity to spend time with her family. Her sister had developed a crush on Wyatt, so Jason and Trisha had joined her family for lunch at one of the resort's restaurants. Trisha was genuinely worried about Sophia, but she didn't want to bring it up in front of her family. She wasn't sure how much they knew about the situation if anything at all. Sophia felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, looking down to see a text from David.

After a long day of snorkeling and jet skiing, Sophia made her way back to her room. A part of her was surprised that David hadn't gone to look for her, but she was extremely relieved. She didn't want to argue with him in front of her family. She secretly hoped that he wouldn't be in the room, but he had been waiting for her all day. He knew that he had fucked up big time. The second he heard the door handle, he shot up from the bed. He was honestly scared of what was gonna happen. He didn't know how mad she would be, and he didn't want to make it worse.

"Hey." He greeted her carefully. She walked past him, dropping her bag onto the dresser.

"Sit," She instructed, pointing to the bed. He immediately did as he was told , looking down at his lap nervously.

"I'm not mad at you for staying downstairs. I'm not even mad at you for ditching me half the night. I'm mad at you because when I told you how anxious and overwhelmed I was, you immediately invalidated the way I was feeling."

She began to pace absentmindedly as she spoke.

"I felt so trapped and awful, and I was expecting you to at least understand that. You were such a dick about it. There could've been three people out there and my anxiety would've still been valid."

"I know. I'm sorry." He mumbled apologetically, reaching for her hand and kissing it softly.

"I've lived my entire life with other people deciding whether or not I have the right to feel anxious. I've been called dramatic and problematic my entire life because of something that's out of my control. I can't handle my boyfriend doing the same thing." Sophia shook her head, hugging her stomach and walking towards the glass doors. She stared out at the water as she tried her hardest not to cry.

"I'm sorry for the things I said. I'm sorry for not coming up here to be with you at midnight. I'm sorry for ditching you the entire night. I'm not gonna make any excuses for it, I was a fucking asshole."

"Yeah, you were."

David raised an eyebrow as she turned to face him. Her arm had a large bruise on it, right above her wrist.

"What happened to your arm?"

"Uh, right before I went to talk to you, this guy grabbed me and wouldn't let go. Matt saw him and scared him off, thankfully."

"He did this to you?" David wondered, walking up to her and running his fingers over the bruised skin carefully.

"Yeah. It's fine."

"It's not fine." He mumbled, biting his lip as he blinked back tears.

"David..." Sophia sighed, pulling him into a hug. He hid his face in her shoulder, sniffling as his emotions began to hit him.

"I'm so fucking sorry. I'm the worst. I-I should've listened to you."

"It's okay, baby. I forgive you."

"I love you so much. I'm so sorry."

"I love you too." Sophia whispered, patting his back comfortingly. He pulled away just enough to press his lips against hers as the tears rolled down his cheeks.
