when i realized i was in love

i never quite understand the
things i felt for you,
i never quite understand why i
always got so nervous around you,
or why every time we were
together my hands would start to sweat.
i never quite understood why the
butterflies in my stomach wouldn't go
away, even after you were gone.

we were best friends for a while now,
but i never understand why i
always got tongue tied talking to you.
i had crushes on other girls,
but not once did i feel that away
about anyone else.
i never understood why i always felt
like i was home when i was
in your arms.

and it wasn't until that warm
september night, when the moon was
directly hitting your face,
that i realized i was in love with you.
