Amidst nights of sleepless slumber
Lost wishes cast upon
Sparkling stars
Soothe our splintering souls despite
False promises and
Sorrowful suspicions
As we send for school nurses
To sew closed the grievous lacerations
In our slowly seizing hearts with sutures
Composed of fantasies and secrets and
The lies we sell ourselves
Producing scars so severe a simple
Sorry
Could seldom strive to seal them
Or even request licence
To simply assuage the stress and sickness
Caused by solitary misfortunes
Unless escorted by
A sorcerous spell
Of sufficient strength to silence
Poisonous words
Which have long since spilled
From countless sets
Of careless lips.
