Jacobs POV

"So what if I am, Emerson?" I whisper.

She looks up at me smirking.

I wouldn't actually tell anyone about her seeing me shirtless, I mean, it isn't even a big deal.

And I'm not a mean person.

"No" Claire states.

"Excuse me, what?" I ask.

"You heard me" She smirks.

"You're kidding" I say, stepping back.

"No, I'm not" She says, sitting on her bed "So I saw you shirtless, not my fault"

I clench my jaw.

She drives me crazy.

Here's the thing with Claire and I.

She has never liked me.

But I kill her with kindness every time she says something rude about me.

She has said, countless times, that she hates me, and I have no idea why.

When I heard that she was my new neighbor, I almost laughed.

This was torture for her.

Seeing me everyday, not only at school and games, but now at home.

 I found it hilarious.

It was my time for payback.

"You are one of the most impossible girls ever" I snap.

"And you're one of the most impossible boys ever" She scoffs.

I look at her out of the corner of my eye.

Her long brown hair was in two braids and her brown eyes were staring at the wall.

I had to admit, she was cute.

"Look-"

"Jacob! Claire! Dinner!" I hear Mrs. Emerson yell.

And with that, Claire gets up and walks out.

"So you got her mad at you?" Emmet asks, throwing the football to me.

"I think so, we have two classes together, and I've tried to talk to her, but she ignores me" I explain, catching the ball.

It was currently Wednesday, and Emmet and I were throwing a football back and forth in my front yard.

Emmet just shakes his head "She's stubborn"

"You said it, not me" I chuckle, throwing the ball back to him.

We continue like this for a while until I see Claire walk out of her house and over to mine.

"What's up?" I ask.

"Your mom asked me to babysit Cassie since she doesn't trust you to do it" Claire explain.

"She speaks!" I smile.

I catch a tiny smile form on her face  but she hides away behind her hair.

She runs up the stairs to my front door and knocks, my mom answers it and they disappear into my house.

"Where are your parents going?" Emmet asks.

"Some dinner, they'll probably be gone most of the night" I explain.

"And they got Claire to babysit your sister instead of you?" Emmet asks.

I just shrug.

It has always been like this.

My parents hate leaving me alone with Cassie.

Mostly because Cassie complains about me not doing stuff she wants.

I don't care what she wants, I am not playing dolls with her.

In my parents eyes, I have to be the perfect son.

Straight A student, star athlete, and well known.

Check, check, and check.

But it isn't good enough for them I guess.

"Well I better get going, See you tommarow" Emmet says, throwing me the ball one last time before walking back over to his house.

I layed down in the grass and stared at the sky.

"Jacob, we are leaving, we wont be home till later, Claire is inside with Cassie, so please don't scare Claire off, see you later" I hear me dad say.

I hear him and my mom leave and I get up, walking inside and straight to my bathroom.

This was going to be a fun night.
