Just the memories of them aren't enough

Is that too much to ask?
It's the only time I ask for something
Can you let me have just this one?
I haven't seen him for such a long time
The only thing that attaches me to him, is my feelings
And even that is starting to fade
Slowly, but I know later on it'll be gone
And before I know it, you'll be gone too
No recollection of you whatsoever, as if you've never existed.
