I could never have imagined something like this happening... And to think that this would all happen in the span of 5 days..

Today, I got called by the school from my son Arin telling me about some kids messing with him at school. Apparently they were giving him a rough time because he had took something that the other kid wanted. They started to call him names and tried to hit him, but was stopped by the teacher when she heard him crying. I had told him that everything would be alright and that they were just upset. They won't do it again. I promised him that we would get him ice cream after I get him and we could go to the toy store.

The next day, I got another call. It happened again, only this time the same boys were picking on him for crying and getting them in trouble. They ended up punching him and giving him a nosebleed and he was sent to the nurse so he could get patched up to stop the bleeding. The teacher had called their parents and told them that the kids had gotten detention for assaulting a classmate. Unfortunately, Arin got detention too for fighting back before calling the teacher for help. I was upset with the teacher, but I couldn't change the situation by fussing at my workplace, so I got off early to get Arin and take him home for the rest of the day.

I was at work again and I hadn't gotten any calls from the school today. Yesterday, after picking Arin up, I told my wife Laura that I would get him a bit early again today and free him from detention. It was a bit absurd that they had detentions for 2 graders who mainly played around all day and colored pictures, but I could see the purpose for it and it was still a bit excessive. When I headed to tell my boss I needed to pick up my son Arin, I got another call. Once I got the news, I nearly dropped my phone in fear. I quickly rushed off without telling anyone anything and headed to the school. When I got there, I rushed to my son and held him with tears streaming down my eyes.

Apparently, the kids were to draw and show that they were sorry for what they had done by giving the drawings to each other as a gift. One of the boys however, the head of the group, decided that drawings weren't going to be enough. When they started giving each other their drawings, Arin got slashed in the chest by a pair of scissors from the leader. Everyone got into panic and 911 was called to help wrap his wounds. It wasn't until he got patched up that I was called.

I took Arin home and Laura was in shambles. The moment she saw us, she rushed to Arin and checked his cut. She then hugged him and grabbed my hand as I stood there broken as well.

I didn't get a call at all that day at any point. Arin was home and Laura took care of him to keep track of his wound and how it healed. When I left the house that morning, I was still afraid. I almost lost my son by a grudge because of some troublemakers. All for something so trivial. It was haunting me to know that a kid like him almost ruined my son's life and ours...

It was a quite day when U got home... Arin was watching cartoons and Laura was making sure he didn't stretch the cut or take off the bandage. A horrible feeling loomed over our home for the day...

We got a call from the teacher of Arin's class to have Arin come back. We were hesitant at first, but we decided it would be a good idea as long as we cold watch him.

The class went as normal. The kids played and sang songs, they had lunch and recess like nothing happened, and Arin even got a bunch of drawings and gifts from his classmates and the teachers to say they hope he recovers soon. Of course, the kid who started all of this didn't like any of it, but we kept an eye on him so he wouldn't mess with Arin again.

Everything was better than we thought it would be.

Laura and I went to talk to the teachers as Arin and the others were to do some arts and crafts together. The teachers apologized for everything that happened and told us that she talked to the kid's parents. The parents had sent the teacher a gift to give to us and a card apologizing, as well as hoping for Arin to get better. We asked the teacher why the kid did such a thing and we were told he was able to keep grudges against others for a long time until he realized what he was doing. He did this with other kids, but he never escalated that far and was scared too when he saw the blood. He was crying for the beginning of class before we had arrived.

I was a bit relieved that he was sorry for what was done. They were kids after all. They didn't get the concept of life and death as easily as older people. Besides, kids are always overactive with emotions and do things their not supposed to all the time. What could be bad but not to forgive?

While we were talking, we heard the kids screaming and shouting. We didn't think of it as much because we thought they started to play, but when we went to see them... we saw Arin covered in blood with a kitchen knife in his hand and the kid who bugged him dead on the floor.

Arin was staring at the boy with a smile, his eyes full of satisfaction...

He ran to us, wanting us to hug him and looked into our eyes...Laura and I didn't know what to do as we looked back at him..

Our son became a murderer... and all in the matter of days...
