Beauty

Why does beauty matter so much?

If one doesn't have beauty, they are scorned.

All of reality seems to lose touch,

Which makes it seem like you have been warned.

The frailness of a flower shows its true grace,

Making me look bad in its presence.

"Why can't I look as pretty as lace?"

While I look at my fellow adolescents.

I get looks and laughter,

When people look at me.

Making me cry after,

Asking for help with a silent plea.

My blood falls onto my pillow,

As I bleed away my pain.

My worst fears are a billow,

That try to go down the drain.

No one can see my cries,

As I grow weaker and weaker.

I'm wearing my strongest disguise,

While I try to play seeker.

I look ugly and fat,

While I look in my mirror.

"You look the same as a rat!"

As my death grows nearer.

Why does everyone have to be so rude?

After all, looks don't matter.

But if it doesn't, why is everyone so crude?

Is it because I look flatter?

Beauty shouldn't really be that big of a deal,

Yet, some people base their whole life on it.

I wish beauty would not hurt instead of heal,

Beauty makes me want to quit.
