Flying High

There is a moment, right before you fall, where you experience a brief tingling in your neck. Your heart seems to skip a beat as your life flashes before your eyes.

I love that feeling.

Just the thought alone of chasing that adrenaline high is enough to get me out of bed in the morning.

Standing at the mountain's edge with my hair whipping around my face, the noise in my head seems to fade away. The wind whisks away the dark thoughts, leaving behind a calm hollowness.

I take in a deep breath and then jump.

Wings erupt from my back right before I reach the blue water below. An excited shriek escapes my lips. It's tragic that some will never experience the joy that is felt when flying.

But it won't last forever.

This feeling won't last forever. And that might be the most tragic thing of all.
