chapter sixty-seven; real life

August 13th

I throw on another flowy shirt and a pair of jeans, that barely fit me now, smiling when I see that my bump was barely visible.

"We're just going out for lunch, right?" I hear Reece ask.

"Yes, what's going on?"

"What? Nothing."

"Reece, I know you. I raised you. I know when something's going on." Jamie says.

"Nothing's going on."

"Is it being back and then going straight off to tour? Your mom and I said that it wasn't the best idea."

Reece sighs. "I guess that's it."

I can tell he's lying. After all, Reece isn't the best at lying to his parents and he's wanted to tell them about me being pregnant the moment he found out.

Of course, I wouldn't let him. You never want to tell people early on in case something were to happen.

"Reece, are you sure that's it? You seem like something else is on your mind."

"Dad, I'm sure."

I throw on my shoes before walking out to where Reece, Jamie, Lyndsey, and Lexi were all standing.

"You ready?"

"Yep."

Reece puts an arm around my shoulder and moves to where wouldn't be able to see my bump, even though they know about the baby.

"Reece, what are you doing?" Lexi asks. "I wanted to give her a hug!"

"We've got reservations to get to!"

He pushes me out the door, making me shake my head in order to keep myself from laughing at him.

"Okay then." Jamie follows us outside, putting Hunter in his car seat.

"We'll meet you there?" Reece asks.

"I thought we could all take the same-"

"There's not enough room between you guys, and me, Leanna, and Hunter."

"Okay then. We'll meet you guys there then."

"Just follow us."

I get into the passenger seat.

"Could you be any weirder?" I ask when he gets into the car and starts it.

"What?"

"You aren't being very 'normal'. What happened to acting normal?"

"Sorry, I just didn't want to accidentally tell them."

"I get that, but you could've let me give Lexi a hug."

"No."

"No? No?"

"What if she felt the bump? I always do when I give you a hug."

I shake my head. "Reece, she knows."

"What? How? Why? When?" He shakes his head. "My parents were supposed to be the only ones that know, besides the boys, Emily, and Olivia. Lexi was supposed to find out today! And we were supposed to tell them the gender!"

"A few days before we left, when your parents were over and you were trying to keep them distracted while I was back in the back throwing up. She came back there when you weren't paying attention and figured it out."
