Chapter 24

"You're beautiful ..."

I heard ChanYeol's voice in front of me.

"Hey," I said with a smile.

"Hi," he replied.

"...ChanYeol..."

"Yea ..?"

"...Thank you..."

"Without you.. I wouldn't have made it this far... Because you were there to hold onto me... I'm here, in this very moment..."

He didn't say anything.

"As much as I'm grateful, I'm also very sor-"

I know he doesn't like it when I apologize to him. I know that more than anyone. But I still had to say it. I want to say it.

I could feel my tears falling. I lowered my head and nodded in reply. I heard him slowly walking up to me. Then I felt his warmth coming closer in a hug and I felt his arms wrap around me. He places one of his hands on my head, like how he always does, and strokes it gently.

"Even at the last minute, you manage to squeeze out those tears that you've shed so much..." he said.

I was so sorry.. I pulled you into this even though you did nothing wrong.. You were there for me who was always self-centered.. I was so selfish and always clung onto you.. But you didn't leave.. And I'm so thankful... But also so sorry for what I've done ...

ChanYeol broke off the hug and cupped my face in his hands. He started to gently wipe away the tears with his soft touch.

"Why are you crying ..? Stop crying.. You should smile now ..."

I cried harder at every single word that came out of his mouth.

"I'm okay.. I told you.. I can handle it..."

I tried to picture his face. The face that was always smiling that pure and innocent smile.

"Ddook !" (※You say this when there's a kid crying and you want them to stop. It's supposed to be a cute way to shut them up.)

I was surprised the by the sudden loudness of his voice so I flinched for a split second.

"You're make-up is ruined ..."

Oh right ... I forgot about that ...

"Hold on, I'll go call someone.." he says and I felt him leave the room.

I tried to calm myself down while he was away. Soon, someone came through the door.

"Oh no ! We have to fix it all over again," the lady said.

I sat patiently while the lady was fixing my make-up. I was expecting ChanYeol to come back soon...

But he didn't come .....

"Yea ...?"

"I'm sorry ..."

"It's okay ..."

SaeIn and I were standing right in front of a 2 door entrance. We were both facing forward and I had my arm intertwined to her's.

"... Please be happy ..." she said.

"... You too ..."

I heard her voice tremble. We didn't say anything more.

Then I heard the 2 door open and hear a man's microphoned voice.

"Please, rise."

I heard people getting up from their seats.

"Go ahead," whispers the girl next to SaeIn.

As soon as the girl whispered to us, SaeIn took a step forward and I followed right after. As I was walking, I could feel everyone's gaze upon me. It wasn't long until SaeIn stopped and I followed. One of her hands took a hold of mine and she removed her arm from my hold. Then I slowly felt someone coming forward and stand in front of me and SaeIn.

SaeIn slowly leads my hand forward and place it on top of another hand. The hand tightened the grip softly around my hand and gently pulled it so that I knew I should walk forward. I took a few steps forward as the hand lead me down even further than where SaeIn left me.

When we stopped, I turned my body to the right so that I was now facing the person holding my hand. His spare hand reached out and took a hold of my other hand.

"Hmm ... First ... I would like to make a promise. I will become your light. Just like how you became my light in the time of my darkness, I will be the light that shines for you for the rest of your life. I promise that I won't let you become scared of the dark ever again," he said.

"Umm.. To be honest.. I can't do anything for you.. I can't do all the normal things that a wife does for her husband.. But one thing that I can do is give my everything to you. My body, my love, my soul, I will hand them to you and never leave your side until I die," I replied.

"We are family, but I will be more like a friend. We are lovers, but I will be more like a acquaintance. I will always show you how much I love you like a friend and not like a family where we become so used to each other, saying a simple 'I love you' or 'I'm sorry' will be awkward. And instead of getting tired of one another like how most lovers end up, I will always treat you like an acquaintance in which I will be cautious of what I say or do and show respectfulness towards you," he continued.

"When you are scared and frightened, hold my hand. I will protect you. When you are tired and weary, lay your head against my shoulders and rest. I will relieve your stress. When you are sad and hurt, come into my embrace. I will heal your wounds. From now on, rely on me so that you will never be lonely. I will always be by your side," I finished.

My tears started falling as I heard his last vows. These were tears of joy. I couldn't say anything more so I nodded my head and smiled.

He then let go of my hands and cupped my face. He slowly moved forward and I felt his lips on mine. And as we kissed, I heard the audience applaud and I could hear the cheers. I heard all the congratulations and the happy wishes.

My husband then removed his lips from mine.

"I love you," he said.

"Me too."

"You're beautiful."

"Hehe .." I blushed.

"My wife ...."

I can see it.

BaekHyun's smile.

I can see it.
