The Path

I watched Robbie walk away

I watched Robbie walk away. My heart was breaking, but I had to let it go. There were bigger fish to fry.

By now, about a dozen more of the Royal Guards had joined us. Four immediately followed Robbie.

.

Zeke started toward him, but I stopped him.

"Let him go. I will talk to him later," I told Zeke.

I wanted to go after him myself, but I had to find out where the families of the Councils were being held. I just hoped that Robbie would eventually understand.

I turned to Jenny.

"What about you?"

.

She looked surprised.

"Me?" She asked. "What about me?"

.

"This could change all of us, Jenny," I explained.

"You can go with Robbie."

.

Jenny laughed.

"I was a Spirit, Whisper. I was dead for over 60 years. You think this shit bothers me? Besides I am you, as you are me. We are still one. There is no way, in hell, that I would ever leave my sister or my little brother.

We are family."

I gave her a quick hug.

Jenny was indeed a huge part of me, both figuratively and in reality. We often felt the same things and saw the same things. She has the ability to see things through my eyes, as I do through hers.

We think alike and like so many of the same things. We are truly one person separated. Her abilities grow every day and she is not even aware of what she is capable of doing. I have often thought about telling her, what she was becoming, but half the fun of having the abilities that we have, was the discovery.

Yet as much as we are alike, we are different. Where I am more serious, Jenny is a free spirit. Where I choose my words carefully, most of the time, Jenny says what's on her mind; immediately. But she is loyal to no end and I love her with all my heart.

"I guess the Templetons stick together."

"And me," Ilene added, meekly.

.

Zeke picked her up and spun her around. He would always do that to her when she was younger. Even now, it still brought a small smile to her face and as always, that wonderful laugh.

The difference now being that there is that special glint in both of their eyes. I had no idea why they kept their relationship a secret from our parents. It was obvious to all of us. I just didn't understand why it was obvious to our parents.

Zeke put her back on the ground, gently.

She hugged his waist, resting her head against his chest.

"I am pissed at you, though," Jenny quipped at me. "Don't ever leave me out again. I am your sister."

.

I knew she was referring to Zeke and I leaving earlier.

I nodded and said, "I promise."
