Genesis POV:

Praise God from Zion! When Jasmine said everything was going to be okay, she was right. Jacob was perfectly fine. He was helping a construction team on some old ladies house and he wanted to make sure that everything was done properly so he climbed up a ladder to make sure that everything was fine and done right. When he was going down the ladder he slipped and fell two feet and broke his arm in three places.

When Jasmine found out she was pissed. She went to the construction site and was hollering and yelling making half of them piss their pants at her anger. It was actually funny, until the boys started crying about going to check on their “pop-pop”. When we got there he was wide awake eating his Jell-o watching TV.

“You trynna give people a heart attack old man?” I asked. When he noticed us he sat up and almost hurt his arm. I ran over to him pulling him up the bed. “I take that as a yes.”

“Pop-pop!” the boys yelled running over to the bed trying to climb up the bed.

“Boys be careful of his arm,” Jasmine said panicked.

“It’s okay their perfectly fine,” Jacob said but Jasmine was still jittery.

“Babe you okay?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m going to get something to drink do you guys want anything?” Jasmine said immediately backing away.

“Can we have some juice,” Terrence asked.

“Sure you can,” Jasmine said leaving out as quickly as she could.

“Is she okay?” Jacob asked.

“Not sure, I have something I need to ask you though,” I said sitting down on the chair next to his bed. “Boys you too.”

“Well go ahead nephew,” Jacob said holding Terrence and Jr. the best he could with his one good arm.

“I want to marry Jasmine, and seeing as you guys are the only people near and dear to me, I want to know if I have your blessings?” I asked.

“I thought you and mommy were already married,” Terrence asked.

“No, we were supposed to but I messed it up,” I said laughing at my son’s innocence.

“Well don’t mess up this time, go marry my mommy,” Jr. said standing on the bed folding his arms.

“You know I already love the darling, and you have my blessing, but you need to talk to your father,” Jacob said looking at me in the eye. I thought about it for a minute and nodded my head in understanding. I would still need to talk to my father regardless of the fact that he wasn’t here.

“Tell Jasmine that I went out and I’ll be back in an hour,” I said leaving the hospital to go to the cemetery.

**

“Hey pops,” I said putting the flowers down on his graves.

“Remember that awesome girl I was telling you about with the birth mark on her right shoulder blade that looks like a tattoo, the bright smile, chubby cheeks, coca cola body, the passion that could rival a lioness. Yeah her, I want her to be my wife and I came by to ask for you blessing,” I stood there feeling a little weird out here talking to a tombstone, but something in the pit of my stomach was telling me to keep going.

“I know I have to go ask her mother again, but let me tell you why I wanna marry her. She completes me in every way, she gives me that thing that helps me get through the day. When I see her it just gives me so much pleasure to move through the day knowing that I have someone as great as her to talk to and go home to.” I took a breath realizing the gravity of the situation all of those feelings I felt for her when I first wanted to propose were ten times stronger because now she has grown, the both of us have.
