Warrens P.O.V
I watched Jaime's chest rise and fall. Her breathing was still shallow but it had improved since last night. "Maybe she's been out for too long," Doc worried beside me with his arms crossed over his chest. I nodded my head. It had only been roughly almost 6 hours since she passed out again. She woke up last night crying out in pain. It was horrible to watch as she rocked back and forth, knees to her chest and tears streaming down her red and blotchy face.
After we got back, I had to hold her down while Doc stitched up her leg as best he could with a blunt needle. Since then, for the past two days she has been in and out of consciousness.
I had thought that maybe the post traumatic stress had led to something worse like depression and I was worried she would never want to wake up.
I had barely slept since I was keeping watch. "I'm gonna wake her up," Doc squatted next to her and shook her shoulders. Jaime shot up and took in a deep breath. "What's..what's going on?" Jaime voice was shaky and weak, she was deathly pale and her body was covered with cold sweats. "We were just checking up on you," I said and offered her a bottle of water.
Jaime's P.O.V
"We were just checking up on you," Warren held out a water bottle. I gratefully took the bottle and sipped on it for a few moments. I looked up to see them watching me intensely. A dull pain was pulsing from my thigh, enough to make me bed ridden.
I shifted myself upright and gritted my teeth at the needles of pain being shot through my leg. "How's the car going?" I asked, remembering our plan to save 10k went into action tomorrow. I was determined to follow through with what we had planned. Warren looked at Doc with an awkward expression on her face. Instantly, a rock formed in my empty stomach. I narrowed my eyes at them. "What?" I questioned. Something wasn't good if they were giving me that look.
It was quiet for a few seconds before Warren sighed, squatting down next to me again and avoiding eye contact. "What?" I asked a little more forcefully this time and sat up further on my makeshift bed. I gritted my teeth as pain radiated from my thigh. A feeling of dread filled the room. "C'mon Warren, your killing me here," I forced a painful laugh as tears filled my burning eyes.
"We know this won't be easy to hear and we know that your not going to agree with it and your gonna put up a fight but..... okay, listen, Jaime, Doc and I think it would be best if....if you stayed behind while we go for 10k..." Warren trailed off and it took me a second to realize the tears had started falling. My hands balled into tight fist and I shook my head. "No," I said over and over and over again. I will not let them go without me. I promised I would save him and that what I plan to do, even if it kills me.
"No!" I shouted and slammed my hands into the mattress underneath me. "I will not sit here on my ass while you go save the man I love! I promised myself that I am going to that wretched place and saving him, killing every single one of those bastards and getting To...." I paused and took a deep breath. "And getting 10k out of there, or I'm gonna die trying. No matter what you try and do, I'm going," I gritted my teeth and turned onto my side, putting my back to them to let them know I was finished speaking to them.
I was shaking with anger. Did they really think they could walk in here and tell me I had to stay put while they went and risked their lives. I didn't think so.
Doc's P.O.V
"I am not doing that Warren!" I argued, waving my arms in the air. Warren have me her famous stern glare. I stayed quiet, not giving into her weird Jedi mind tricks. She continued to stare at me and I felt my self cracking. "Warren," I whined and slowly shook my head. I knew it was wrong, but I also knew it was for the best.
Jaime need to rest or it was just going to make her leg worse. Not to mention that she wasn't in any shape to be fighting, she can barely stand, trying to run or fight would send her tumbling to the ground.
I looked between Warren and the pills, then I stared at the door that closed Jaime in her own little world. Jaime was most likely crying to herself. It was hard seeing her so broken over 10k being gone, god knows how the kid is doing right now. Maybe Jaime would be better once we get him back.
"Doc, please... We have to go tonight, tomorrow she's going to wake up and expect to be going to save the man she loves. We go now, she won't put up a fight," Warren's hand lightly touched my shoulder. She picked up the pills and held them out. They were prescription temazepam pills, pills that make you fall asleep and stay asleep. We found them in the near by pharmacy.
"Warren you know I think this is totally wrong... But I can see how this will help. The only reason I'm doing this is cause I want to reunite the kids," I took the pills and a grin appeared on Warrens face. She slapped my shoulder, "Thank you Doc,".
I grab a bottle of water from our supplies and slowly entered what felt like the lions den. Jaime is emotional and her mood changed quicker then you would think is possible. "Hey Jaime, I got something to take the edge off. To help the pain," I tried to speak as soft as I could. She sniffled and turned to face me.
Her eyes were red and puffy, but no tears dampened her blotchy cheeks. "Doc I don't want your weed," she painfully laughed and wiped her tired eyes. Even though she had done nothing but sleep, she still looked exhausted. She had a small smile but I could see the pain in her eyes. I chucked, "No not weed. Some pain killers, good ones aswell. Here," I offered the water and popped the lid of the pill container, shaking 2 into her trembling hand. She quickly swallows them and gulped down a mouthful of water. "Thanks Doc I appreciate it," she smiled again before turning back into her side. I hastily exited the room and gave Warren a look.
It was now or never. "Lets go save the kid," I exclaimed and picked up my hammer.
