*Hello my lovely readers (: Sorry it took a while to update. I’m still getting use to writing in 3rd person so it’s going slower than my other stories. But, I should get the hang of it soon! I hope you enjoy this chapter.*

“Cassie…Castiel…CASTIEL WAKE UP!” Lucifer yells into the sleeping boy’s ear, causing him to jump and fall off the bed. Cas slowly slips the blue blanket off his face to glare at Lucifer, who is smiling innocently down at him.

“What time is it?” Castiel grumbles as he stands up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

“Six,” Lucifer smiles hugely at him, “I figured because you have school today I should be a good friend and let you sleep.”

“Ha,” Castiel fake laughs as he grabs his phone off the side table to make sure his so called ‘friend’ was telling the truth. He was, so Cas made his way over to his closet.

“Why are you so mean to me?” Lucifer pouts. Castiel glances back to see him sprawled over his bed frowning at him.

“I don’t know, maybe because you are annoying, rude, and selfish,” Castiel snaps.

“The Devil annoying, rude, and selfish,” Lucifer gasps sarcastically, “No way!”

“I hate you,” Castiel says before grabbing a pair of dark blue jeans and a big black sweatshirt.

“That’s where you’re wrong, Cassie dear,” Lucifer teases as he stands up and starts walking over to the boy, “I’m the only one you can talk to besides your Mommy. I’m the only one who likes you besides your Mommy. Your own father even thinks you’re an abomination.” Lucifer is only inches behind Castiel and Cas tries to bite back his tears. “What’s wrong Castiel? Does the truth hurt? Does it hurt to know that you’re only friend, besides your mother, is Lucifer himself?” he whispers into the boy’s ear, “Pathetic.” The door to the room swings open but Castiel stays turned around with Lucifer pressed up against him.

“Castiel stop standing around and get ready for school. If you’re late to the first day you won’t make a good impression on your teachers so hurry the fuck up,” Castiel’s father, Gadreel snaps before walking out and slamming the door behind him.

Gadreel married Hester at a young age because he got her pregnant with Castiel at 18. He was 21 and his parents, being strongly religious, forced him to marry her. It wasn’t until after Castiel turned five that Gadreel found out about Hester’s family secret. Castiel had accidently set one of the lamps in the living room on fire when he got angry and ever since Gadreel treated him and his mother like dirt.

Gadreel would have left them but, again, his parents wouldn’t let him. He cheated on Hester constantly even going as far as bringing some of the women home and kicking Hester out of their room. Hester contemplated leaving him multiple times but she didn’t have the money and didn’t want Castiel growing up poor. Castiel wouldn’t care because he just wanted to get away from his awful father and see his mother happy but he kept his mouth shut and followed his mother’s pleas to try and make peace.

“See Castiel. You need me,” Lucifer purrs into his ear, “I’m all you have.” Before Cas can say anything Lucifer disappears and so does the extra energy that was in the room. Castiel sighs and tries to take long, deep breaths while wiping the few tears that had escaped off his face. He quickly puts on his clothes and heads down the stairs. His mother is making coffee in the kitchen and when she hears him come in she turns around with a bright smile.

“Hey Hun, you hungry?” she asks as she pours sugar into her cup.

“No, I’m okay…Is Dad still here?” Cas glances behind him, into the living room.
